Hey chaps,

Moved over to Brissy from the UK leaving behind my pride and joy; Toyota MR2 Tubby in November.. So I was keen to get back into a Toyota, and knowing how comfy the Soarers where and me working an hour away thought Id get one. Saw this cheap Soarer on the net and bought it.

http://soarercentral.com/sc-forum/messages/5079/251538.html?1217758367

The problem(i have been scouring the site for answers)
I notice once my foot is down 65% on the gas it starts to pull then drag, then pull/strange kinda misfire sound on boost, but most times when i floor it there is no drag/strange lag.. but sometimes the misfire kinda feel. I dont know if its the plugs? turbos, or vacumes or even the acuator getting stuck?

But on the other hand its a lovely drive(when not getting stressed over the boosting), gets me to work, 1hr away, very nicely.

Whens the next Brissy Meet :-)

Cheers

welcome mate, your problem could be plugs or dirty fuel, or not enough fuel in your tank, my car does the same thing when im on a quarter of a tank.

Or ECU - its a '91 model so if the ECU hasn't been serviced, it could well be on the way out.

I would be checking the coil packs for cracks while checking the plugs.
That car looked to be an absolute bargain for that price.

It should be visible, My coil packs had a few cracks in them and have just been repaired with Araldite and that was nearly a year ago and still going strong. Not the ideal way to repair but definitely least expensive.

Some of the cracks could be hairline cracks so could be hard to spot.

Hi George, welcome to the wonderful world of Soarer ownership mate! As far as I know for here in WA at least, Caltex Vortex is 98 RON. But I prefer to use BP Ultimate. It's been discussed at length here on the forum and tends to be the most recommended 98 RON fuel for a variety of reasons. Not sure whether you get anything above 98 RON up there in Brissy? If so, would be worth using it.

Hey George... another Brissy boy here... Except mines got the bent 8

Welcome... and as mentioned above... BP Ultimate

I was running Shell Craptimax, but found I wasnt getting the economy that I am with the BP Ultimate

Also find the car idles a lot smoother on the BP Juice

I'm running Federal 595's

Great tyre... not too expensive, grippy, and not much noise!

If you call Mercury Motorsports and speak to Robbie or Trent, they will look after you... just mention you have been referred to them by a CB member (Retox if they need to know)

Going on a bit of a cruise this sunday as a matter of fact :-)
