Correct me if i'm wrong but wouldn't the tailgate "theory" only make an influence either way if the tray was uncovered. i could be blind but in that pic he looks like he has a cover.

Well I had a brilliant time at the drags but now, predictably, I want to go faster! So I'm thinking strip as much of my interior as possible, but im unsure of the legalities in WA. What can I legally remove? and what has to remain? car is daily driven so ac MUST remain but excess noise etc doesn't bother me. I'm thinking remove door trims, carpet, sound deadening, sub and amp, seats, and boot trim. I also want to fit some buckets and a harness on the drivers side. Power wise I have a Saber fmic, bleed valve and safc on the way which i hope will get me into the 13s

ok so the front mount is fitted (looks mean) and I plumbed the turbosmart boost tee in.........and thats were things went horribly wrong lol.
I decided to wind the boost up in stages untill I hit boost cut then I'd wind it back a little (I dont have a guage)
so I started winding. The car was really starting to haul I was stoked....untill the cooler hose blew off, I thought that was boost cut at first haha.
So I put pipe back on tightened the clamp and started winding the boost tee again. I jumped in floored it and was absolutely flying (cue big grin)
Then got to 3rd still pulling hard and power drops dramatically......then rear view fills with white smoke. Gutted. white smoke poured out every time I revved it so i started heading home.
Then for some reason the white smoke stopped???? I can still boost it but its quite slow, however no smoke and no nasty noises?
So my question is did I blow a turbo? car is slow and idles really rough. but still boosts? weird.

White smoke can't be good. Generally means oil is being burnt on the heat side from a leak caused from blown seals. Lesson learnt, never play around with boost without a boost gauge of some sort.
Really does sound like blown turbo seals though.

white smoke is coolant, blue smoke would mean oil burning. Sounds like you have either blown your head gasket between a cylinder and water jacket. Or im not sure if its possible, can coolant from the turbo cooling jackets make its way into t he turbo?

If the car didnt have a fuel cut I would completely agree. My theory was that once I hit fuel cut I'd just wind it back a bit. I guess the engine was just too old and tired to cope.

Coolant would turn into steam am I correct? And wouldn't even make it out of the exhaust before it turns to vapour? White is oil on the exhaust side burning, Blue is oil going through combustion, then burning, and Black is fuel.
Do a compression test maybe to see if its your head?
Oh, check inside you cooler pipes (namely the one before your inlet plenum), to see if there is mass amounts of oil. If there is, turbo overhaul time.

why do you think cars emit white vapour when they first start up after a cold night? Its because of the condensation in the pipe that is then heated into steam and emitted out the pipe. Its 1 way of diagnosing problems with cars at the workshop.
Black smoke is an excess of fuel being burnt during combustion, aka rich
Blue smoke is caused by oil entering into the combustion/exhaust system.
White is coolant, its always fun seeing a BMW with a blown head blowing a smokescreen of white steam HAHA, it lingers for that long you can find out where hes going while being 500 metres behind
