Bit of an update on my Soarer:
Had new slightly lower springs and shocks put in a year ago - handles like magic now.
Replaced the old sound system with a nice powerful quality setup that is all hidden from view including the amp, so it looks stock and sounds amazing.
Around the same time I got the exhaust done which consisted of ripping out everything from (and including) the cats back and putting new twin 2" system twin central resonators and twin rear mufflers. How it sounds: http://youtube.com/watch?v=lUBw5iOgI4A
Currently it's is in the shop getting converted to an R154 manual... And needless to say I can't wait!!!
Also in the pipeline (pun not intended) is a set of extractors which will be going in as soon as I get my hands on them.
I'm looking into deleting the AFM and replacing it with 3" pipe plus a piggyback ecu system. Just wondering if anyone can reccommend a piggyback ecu? Was reading that the GReddy e-manage ultimate is a good pick, but could only see the JZ engine listed on their website not the UZ. Any help would be appreciated

Sounds like you have an airleak in that exhaust system mate, very airy.
You should be glad you have a 30 instead of a 31, i lowered my 31 and now the ride is awful. In saying that, i just cant take it back to stock height - so hilux! Also, the 30 weighs less so is a bit faster. Kinda wish i went for a 30 now. Then again, my next Soarer will be a TT i think.

An air leak you reckon? It hasn't had any trouble passing WOFs, I presume they would check for this unless its tucked away somewhere.
Mike I've looked into torsen diffs but probably won't be on the agenda for some time after paying the bill for the manual conversion!
Just picked it up this evening, and wow it is just amazing. So nice and so fun to drive! Unfortunately I have the old ECT error/flashing OD light problem, but apart from that its all sweet and the cruise control still works so I'm stoked! Will put up some new pics soon.

It feels absolutely amazing. I love the gearbox, it feels very precise when you change gears - can feel it mesh if you know what I mean.
Not sure if its actually any quicker but it certainly feels a lot quicker in the drivers seat when you put your foot down, as you're clutching shifting. Also now having 5 speeds 2nd gear pulls quite hard as opposed to the old 2nd I was used to (obviously different gear ratios).
Here are two videos for comparison, 0 to 100 before and after the conversion. To be honest I think the auto one is faster to 100 - I need to work on my launching/shifting.
Even if it is exactly the same quickness as the auto I'll take the manual any day as its so much fun! Even if you're just taking it easy and slowly shifting through the gears its just magic!

Well yeah, I guess you could call it a bit of a dog. Sometimes it take a bit to get it into gear changing down... But personally I like this precise style of box. A sloppy box that doesn't have any feel to it is a complete turn off to me.

Gosh that seems weird watching a V8 soarer accelerating with a manual gearbox, I'm just so used to them with the lazy auto!
You would certainly have to work the gears/changes to get the most out of the manual gearboxes advantages, such as the improved ratios over the stock 4 speed auto but with loosing the auto you also loose the TC torque multiplication effect when accelerating with an automatic.
