| Hi there Iv been living in WA for bout 4 months and after losing interest in my S13 project iv decided to buy a slightly more grown up car (94 Soarer TT) which i should hopefully pick up early next week, I cant wait Im like a kid at christmas haha, Iv always loved soarers but have never found one in my limited price range till now. Iv been thoroughly impressed with these forums the lack of "burns" and general maturity of the members here is refreshing. I hope to tag along to a few cruises and meet a few people. I have no good pics of the car yet but hopefully this one will do for now. Cheers Luke

| Luke, I think I saw your car for sale. Was a real bargain hey. Has it done more than 200kms with a smashed window? |

| yep that's the one except as i was happy to discover on inspection of the car the window isn't smashed it's just been forced down by some clown trying to break in so no doubt there will be some mechanism damage (will take a closer look once car arrives later in the week) |

| G'day Luke, Welcome to the forum and to WA. We're up in Exmouth, well to the north of Perth. Where in NZ are you from? If you've been in WA for only 4 months the coming summer may be something of a shock |

| Hi Mike I was around exmouth not long ago (I'm a truck driver) My partner and I are from Oamaru (north otago) so I beleive the coming summer might just kill me I was up around Port Hedland a while ago and it was crazy hot! and apparently that was only 35deg! |

| G'day again Luke, In summer here we long for a 35 as that's "cool". If you're coming through Exmouth again give us a call. Easiest way is the Met Office at Learmonth, where I work. If you are, PM me and I'll give you the numbers. I'm heading off in 2 weeks time for Carnarvon for 2 weeks as they're short-staffed down there. We went through Oumaru during our visit 2-3 years ago, but missed it in our last visit earlier this year (came out at Timaru, which we missed the other time...I like Oamaru better!). You'll certainly notice the difference in Perth even, from Oamaru, especially in January. While we were away in NZ last January the hottest was 45.2C here in Exmouth (but there were plenty of 40+ before we left and after we got back! |

| Update! First mods completed nice set of 18s, I dont usually like chrome but these look alright and were dirt cheap win-win. Also swapped out rear mufflers for twin cannons, I had my doubts about how they would look but now that they're on there I love the look much louder than I expected though might have to add a resonator somewhere. A few pics. The car as it arrived
The new wheels
The new mufflers
Lookin much nicer but desperately needs lowered (and cleaned haha)

| Great stuff Luke, that's actually a very good time for a stocker. I went down there today, unfortunately I was too late and entries had closed. Was hoping to crack 11's.... ok just dreaming there. I suggest getting a shift kit. For well under $400, it is worth it. I can probably help you out too with the install if I have free time if you like. |

F6 Typhoon=60k Soarer with exhaust=4.5k The F6 driver pulled in behind me in the pits after and was tellin his mates how his ute was slow because the tailgate was creating drag! the rest of the night he raced with tailgate open lol (to be fair to him he later ran in the high 13s) |

| I think it was mythbusters that did a few tests regarding fuel efficiency and having your tailgate open or closed. From memory they claimed having it closed created an area of low pressure behind the cabin and actually decreased drag. |

I cant comment on Mythbusters testing it, but the theory you are saying is correct. With the tailgate down there is no pocket of air meaning that the air is forced to travel further, creating greater pressure. With the tail up and that pocket of air, there is less resistance. |
