Peter, Thanks for the upload tip
Hey Mat, I'm a fan of anything done well and drifting is more about skill and art and a bloke with a properly tuned $10k 20 year old car can compete with a brand new one costing $150k. Where as with motor racing is about the guy with the most money goes fastest and usually wins.

I still don't get drifting. Don't think I ever will.
Likewise, it obviously requires a lot of skill but I don't see why everyone loves it so much. I'd much rather watch a car trying to take a controlled sprint through a track, and do it myself.
In saying that I've never been a big fan of smoking up tyres and all drifting, when the situation allows it I don't mind it but it's not something with cars that I get excited by...
If I had the opportunity to watch drifting live (unless it featured V8/V12 rwd Euro cars) I would probably be more interested in comparing my Soarer's quality on the interior and small bits to another similar car offered from European brands! Highly fascinating stuff when you look at things up close to directly compare.

Wow, impressive skill alright!
But that bores me, probably because it is a 4 cylinder Subaru - which I passionately hate for some reason.
I do enjoy large displacement cars drifting / power-sliding on the other hand, so I am being a bit hypocritical. It really comes down to the fact that cars like the turbo Silvia/200sx/Laurels/Subarus/Skylines don't really appeal to me when I see them drifting...
I can see why people like it but I am a boring guy in their perspective that likes non turbo heavy cars.

I am! They're good fun Mike, six speed manual and loads of torque, bout the same body size as the soarer, ride isn't as good(obviously) but such a good car. I'd love one I reckon they're a modern classic.

Sounds like you should be an engineer!
I wanted to years ago but now days my interests lie else where.
I've always found engineering/cars/technology & how things work to be a hobby or interest for most of the part.
Speaking on that, when I was looking at this S8 I took some pictures of a few things, I was staggered at how basic the hinges were as well as the bolts, they looked like they came from a basic engineering shop down in Onehunga! The way the engine is seated was also quite shocking, I knew they are far forward of the front axle like most Audis are, but not until you see it up close compared to the Soarer it's horrendous, about 90% of the engine is over the front wheels, where as on the soarer 80% looks to be behind the front axle... one can only work out there would be quite a difference in weight distribution and handling... Looks odd too - I far prefer the 1UZ engine bay.
Here's a quick picture so you know what I'm on about

WOW I have just watched the drifting Subaru in the link posted earlier by Joe Russel. If that display doesn't get your adrenalin pumping nothing will. They can come and weed my lawn anytime.
