| Here's some updated pics after the new interior, new mags and new front mount. And proof that intercooler piping can go under the headlights ;) Let me know what you think.

| Hmm sorry to say but it just looks, too DIY-ish & a typical tired Soarer in NZ. I'm sure it goes very well and is a fun car to drive, but for me you need to have all that that along with it being in decent, presentable condition. Like for example, the blue pipe under the hood is excessively hideous, many other ways you could do that minus the tackyness. *no intention to offend* Wheels do look nice however, quite like the gold on green. |

| nice wheels, but please tell me thats not just 1 rear muffler removed haha. The single muffler still looks stock, which makes me think theres a mufflerless flange down there somewhere HAHA |

| Well you can't expect 15 year old leather to be mint can you? I fail to see anything D.I.Y-ish about my car either, sorry it's not presentable enough for you Mike, next time I'll make sure to meet your standards. The pipe under the bonnet goes right down to the front bumper, makes for excellent induction, the colour of it doesn't really matter much to me. I've got a GT35 to go on in a couple of weeks so all that stuff is outties. Oh and to whoever said about the muffler, it was off being used as a template haha. |

| Well, it's not just me... it comes down to common sense & quality. When you open up a bonnet of new sporty car, you don't see bright blue air vent ducting along with poorly cut metal engine covers.... Why? Because that would be tacky - Doesn't mean your 15 year old car should be made tacky as it's old. It's your car, do what you want with it, but it's anything but appealing to me. I'm sure others would agree but are too nice to 'be mean'. For a start, at least try cleaning the headlights - how dull do they look! night time performance would also be reduced too. I'm only merely saying all this, not trying to be a prick but I can't say it looks great as it just doesn't.

| We can't all be perfect, as I've said, there's a whole new turbo setup going in shortly so I'm not spending any money prettying under the bonnet now. The hole next to the ignition is where the boost gauge used to be (previous owner). I'm well aware it's a little rough around the edges but you should have seen the state of it when I first got it, it was an absolute mess. The seats were ripped to buggery, the once grey carpet was an off shade of brown, bits of the dash were falling off. I've spent a lot of time replacing things and tidying other things up. As for the coil cover, the standard one was cracked and half missing so again, it looks much better than it did. I'm more in to performance than looks regardless, hence the reason that the majority of my money is going under the bonnet. Cheers for all the comments on the mags haha, got a great deal on them - $1395 with (crappy but brand new) tyres. It's a shop in avalon if anybody wants to know, they've shut down the nearby mag and turbo because they do such good deals on everything. |

| I think most of us have owned a few beaters in our time. It does look like one seriosly abused soarer though. Good going on choosing the hard road to restoration. |

| Yeah it's definately needed a lot of work so far and much more to come. I'm going slow at this stage, I've just changed jobs so I'm getting back on my feet, and the xmas rush and all that. After the turbo setup is done I want to get one of those vertex kits off of trademe (flame all you like but I think they look nice) then get the paint job done. I've got a few colours in mind but so far I'm undecided. Mike - I don't mean to sound like a prick but seriously man, constructive critisism is accepted but telling me bits and pieces of my car are tacky, while in mid build, isn't coshure... Even though you have the best intentions you should try and be a bit more subtle in the future. It's all well and good to sit behind your computer and judge everybody elses cars but would you be so tactless at a meet? I'd think not... |

| Come on guys, this thing looks better than a few of the ones I've seen around. Especially those rims!! Sets an awesome stance, though if you had a lip, it would be complete Tim. I too am a man of function over presentation, each to their own. |

| Yeah I fell in love with those rims the moment I saw them, I love the way the goldish colour goes with the green. They're staggered aswell, 8.5 fronts and 9.5 rears. I get no gaurd rub (even with a full load) but I can't get my fingers between the wheel and guard... literally about 3mm clearance. I was looking at buying a front lip not long ago but I decided not to when I saw how often the vertex kits pop up on trademe and after reading several reviews about how they fit straight on (nice and easy) I thought I'd buy myself a bodykit instead. I just got a new sallary + comission job paying pretty well so I've set up a $300 a week savings so things will come together pretty quickly now. |

| Same as mine, I have 9.5 front x 10 rear with no rub. You find that the lower it goes, the more camber it gets so it tucks into the guard on an angle when it squats, though I use 255's on the rear and they stretch quite a bit, so that saves me room. Hence why I get crazy inside tyre wear. |

| Yeah I feel that pain... Mine have been on for about 10,000ks with (to be honest) a little sideways action everyonce in a while, nothing excessive though and usually only when it's wet (and secluded). Anyway, I looked under the back yesterday and they're almost smooth on the inside, which sucks because my warrant expired on the first of feb. I need new springs too, my rears have sagged a little bit and come a couple of mm out of captive when the whole rear end is jacked up. |

| It looks tough, kinda mad max'ish. The intercooler mounting would annoy me if it were mine (is it just me or is it on a lean?) and the flexi intake kinda reminds me of the snuffaluffagus haha. I think interiors are pretty hit and miss. If you get a car with a nice one that's great and you are generally motivated to keep it looking good. If it's fairly worn with bits chopped out to start with it then can be a lot of work to improve it and in some cases not worth it, or further down the list of priorities. Maybe make a few vents in the coil cover to let heat out from around the coils though. |

I'am a prick. I don't mind if you would like to be one too. I can sure understand your annoyed with what I say but not everything people say will make you happy, that's just life! My negative thoughts were triggered by a comment saying 'looks mint' which was not quite accurate so thought I should thrown my comments in. So anyway..... if you Soarer is in 'mid' build why did you show the half finished version of it off? You were really asking for criticism as it still CLEARLY needs a lot of work before it's presentable & can be complimented. The entire interior for a start is questionable and the headlights are just dying out for a thorough polish/clean etc, that should be #1 on the list if your serious about caring for your Soarer If its a project, I look forward to the final result! What you put in, you get out of course!

Obviously not, as that would create a nasty tense atmosphere & possibly more, though it would not happen as I wouldn't attend a meet with tired cars, how depressing would that be looking at neglected cars that was once pleasing to the eye years ago. However on a brighter note I do rather like the wheels, they fit very nicely - a great choice. |

| Scroll up and you'll see the half finished pics :p The only questionable thing about the interior is the front seats, the dash, centre console, carpet and back seats are perfect (the whole interior came out of a wrecked UZZ30). I've been quoted $700 for a refab on both seats, but I think I might get some nice leather bucket seats eventually... But that's waaaay down on the list. They wont be in until they're actually needed ;) Exterior is going to be done after the engine, I'll start with the kit, probably primer black while I save for a proper paint job (because unlike some I think matte black looks tough as hell). None of you seem to have noticed the ruggedness of my paint - driver door has had a horrible bog repair job, and the paint is equally The rear driver quarter panel is rough as hell aswell, another bog job from a previous owner. |

| Tim, Mike is actually a very nice guy, and SAYS what a lot of us only THINK. He has owned quite a few very clean examples of Soarer to date, and currently owns a near perfect example of a UZZ31 as we speak. Mike tells it as he see's it, and is wise beyond his years.................He only speaks as he does, because he is VERY passionate about originality, and/or sympathetic modifications.

| All I'm trying to say is there's no need for his I'm-better-than-you attitude, he wouldn't be like that socially would he? Why do it here? And fact is, my car is nowhere near finished. So no need to be moaning about it not looking how he likes. And if you looked back, I've had two or three threads with updated progress pics over the past year or so, each one different, each one looking better. |
