G'day once again guys, I registered on the forum earlier this year introducing myself, but lost my username & such in the original email that was received.
Anyway, I currently own an NA 300ZX which I have finally put up on the market, it was my project to create a fast naturally aspirated v6 with the looks to match, but I don't own a money tree / I am looking for something with more potential for the long term. And the Soarer has always been lurking my mind.
I have chosen to go down the TT path & this time around, buy a car that is not completely stock (as much fun & satisfying as a fresh project can be)
I came across a particular TT Soarer on Carsales.com.au, not sure if it is owned by a forum member or not ? But anyway hopefully inspecting it tomorrow.
I do however have some quick questions I would like to ask (hopefully in this section !)
- What is the potential of the V8 ? I know it is a great engine, but also in term of power figures also, how easy is 200rwkw to achieve ? & how does it take to modifications..
- Are there any particular after-market businesses out there or-the-like for the Soarer ?
I hope to be an owner in the next coming weeks or so, looking forward to it !

I don't think anyone could really argue with that Tim. Of course it depends on what type of performance you want too I guess. 200RWKW is pretty achievable even on a budget, but would still require a stack more money than 200RWKw out of a TT.
The 1UZFE is a laid back cruising motor, so its never going to set the world on fire without serious money.
There are a few people that frequent here that specialise in after market performance parts for the Soarer.

Oh strange I made a post for this, rambling on but obviously forgot to click the 2nd time to post it.
Duh.
But yeah... a V8 Soarer would be much like a NA 300zx just MUCH smoother, and faster. A linear power delivery.
You can get to around 170-180rwkw with the usual V8 modifications, intake, headers/exhaust, ECU work, cam work etc.
Going supercharged on top of a good NA base would see around 200-230rwkw.
It all depends how big your wallet is... for that sort of power I would budget about 12-15,000 to do the work at a high & reliable standard.
Going for a TT soarer would be a better cheaper option. Spend a few grand and you have a 200rwkw+ car easy. I'd take one over a TT 300ZX any day... not because they look nicer and are a Toyota but the fact it will last, be MUCH more reliable and enjoyable to work on, not a headache like the 300zx's are under those bonnets.

Agreed, I just replaced an engine in an NA 300zx, f*ck ever doing that agin! I'd hate to think how tight a turbo engine would be. They do go hard though, even the NA's.

I'd love to have the 7k to net 200rwkw out of my 1UZ!! But yeah, as stated above, if you want easy and cheap go-fast fun, go the 1JZ option. (Or for another fun option, get a JZZ30 and throw in a 2JZ-TT)

I reckon get a V8 do the usual mods nice cruiser. Then for ultimate cheap speed get a huge nitrous kit. 200hp will do ok. Be smart and it will last fine. I've seen rental card do 16's STD then 11's to 12's on the bottle in online vids. Gotta be cheaper than a sc sure not street legal or as reliable but who cares engines can be had for under 1k
I own a V8 soarer and my brother has an N/A 300ZX and his is manual and has a chip, pulls 127rwkw (only mod is the chip) and my car pulls about 10 more at the wheels, his car is funner to drive as it's a manual, but in terms of smoothness and comfort the soarer is the way to go.

Yeah, I felt a 300zx was a big car you would expect to be like the soarers for their smoothness but in reality its far from the case. Wouldn't touch a 300zx!

Guys, I have left a deposit on a TT Soarer which is soon to be mine (the end of next week to be exact)
Here is a photo from the ad.
1993 model, 185rwkw & some noticeable modifications, such as the skirts, electric sunroof etc. Well looked after both aesthetically & maintenance-wise. Very pleased.
Some first-up personal choice essential mods will include, 6000k HID's, adjustable coil overs, clear front bar indicators (despite the high price) & rear skirt. After driving it, more than enough power.. for now !
