Welcome Kujo sorry to hear your Soarer is playing up ,try and put more info up eg is the engine turning over ? put a pic of message , did it misfire before it stopped? etc.there may be a member close to you lets hope.
Hey mate i am also from Adelaide and have a 92 V8 limited and i had the same problem, sounds like your alternator is stuffed and needs to be rebuilt, so does your power steering pump.

hey guys, yeah i changed the battery. The engine starts but once you touch the accelerator, the engine shuts down and every time i turn on the ignition it makes weird sound from the boot..i think it's coming from the petrol tank. it sounds like it trying pump petrol but nothing is coming out. regardless of when i turn it on it always says the engine is hot. I translated the Japaneses warning messages to engine electrical system and tail lights but ma tail lights works perfectly. what does it mean when the Catalytic Converter shows red on the dash board. thanks guys

Hi Kujo,
Sorry to hear about your Soarer probs so soon after buying it - I'm in SA too & same thing happening to me right now back from 2 days after purchase!! (different problems, but problems all the same).
Please be careful which mechanic you go to so you don't get stuffed around and jipped like I did with mine just over a week ago in SA... stay away from one at South Road, Melrose Park
If you need actual name pls feel free to P.M. me.
Good luck fixing your problems - mine still aren't fixed after almost a grand later *sigh*

Catylitic converter showing means , the alternator.
Check whether the power steering pump has leaked fluid onto the alternator. if so the alternator is toast. you will need to get Power steering pump rebuilt/serviced and a new alternator.
Power steer pump is on the left at the front of the engine when satnding in front looking at engine, alternator is directly below it. Follow the belt on the front of the engine you'll find it. Unfortunately it's a common fault/problem and probably everyone has had it at some stage.
Good luck, not a hard fix , but you'll need to take it to a mechanic.

Thanks guys am gonna get it checked out..do you guys know how much it might take to fix engine electrical system? i bought the car from a privately and i think it was imported in 1994 and has done 1620032 k's. The previous owner installed a dvd player, and i read that installing things like dvd players or alarm systems usually messes the electrical flow or bad ground wiring. So i think i got bad ground wiring cause my car makes a shshhshss sound all the time. thanks again

Hi Walter, no offence but given your lack of automotive knowledge you should take your car to a mechanic, if these issues are showing up early it's likely the car hasn't been maintained well and there are other gremlins in the system. Look up 'automotive electrician' in the yellow pages, they are specialists and work with fuel pumps, alternators, grounding issues etc all the time. Best of luck!
