Hello everyone I m Aykun I live in Australia at the moment and Im 27. by the way I am a BMW fan. But I love LEXUS or Toyota Soarers.

In these days I am looking to buy a second hand SOARER. I am too much confused cause I do not understand if I should buy Toyota or Lexus Soarer cars are same cars except emblems. What are the diferences and is buying Lexus Soarer instead of Toyota a disadvantage cause of service expenses?
I will be glad if you let me know.

Hey welcome,

As for the difference, i'm personally not to sure, but I do know that lexus was only established in Japan in 2005, before that all japanese built toyotas were all branded toyota. So a soarer with a toyota badge is likely JDM. Everywhere else in the world i believe they were built under the brand name of Lexus. Lexus was established overseas in 1989 everywhere else except Japan.

I'm sure someone can probably tell you about the actual specifcs :-)

Aykun.

Lexus SC300 - SC400 were only sold in the US and are Left Hand Drive.

In Australia and the UK, Toyota Soarers are imported from Japan (Right Hand Drive) but then some get rebadged as Lexus models.

So it's pretty much guaranteed that any Soarer/Lexus equivalent that you buy in Australia will in fact be a Soarer despite what the badges say.

As far as I know, there were only ever 1 or 2 real LHD Lexus versions of the Soarer imported to Australia.

thank you and in case of buying a lexus soarer will the filters brake pads absorbers of toyota soarer fit to a lexus soarer?

Is paying around 4500 AUD worth for a 1992 model Lexus Soarer?

Have Lexus Soarers engines or mechanics got any chronic problems?

I am really thinking to buy. I will be happy to get answers.

It is exactly the same car.

It is exactly the same car.

The value of any particular car will depend on it's condition and how well it has been looked after.

There are known issue, mostly minor and almost none are serious enough to be terminal.

Hmm as I get positive answers and when I watched Soarer commercials I loved this car more and more.
Next week I will try to find one. And probably it will be 1992 model Soarer. What are the differences between 1992 model one and 2000 model one. This beauty is made without any change for 9 years.

Which type of engine is used in 1992?
Is it single point injection?
In Queensland Australia which oil should I choose for a 1992 model v8 4000 soarer? Mobil 10w40 or 0w40 ?
In 1992 models are board computers optional?

I will be glad to know this too.
Cheers all.

Hey Guys

If you search this site you'll find the answers to your questions and a lot more.
I joined here only 3 months ago having never owned a soarer before and I have just done a 100K service including cam belt and water pump replacement with the info I found here. - bought some of the parts here too !!
Do a search using the Soarer Central search and you can find practically anything you want about the Soarer/Lexus

hahahaha matt

welcome aykun... sik name you sure your not AKON? lol

use the search feature on this forum on the top of the page. most newbie questions you are asking have been answered before numerous times. :-)

soarers are surprising and sometimes confusing beasts,, sometimes they roam the grasslands feeding on unsuspecting skylines. most times tho you can find them cruising around suburbia keeping their drivers and passengers entertained and comfortable on the daily commute. and if your lucky you can spot them soaring around a race track :-)

blue soarer... i dont know of any of the zz30 and above soarer's that use single point injection.. the only car i have ever worked on with single point injection was a mazda bravo turbo ute i did back as 14 yr old. and for oil depending on the k's the engine has done i would go for the 10w50 oil mate. elaborate on the 'board computer'

Thank you Walter Gillmore. My name is Aykun. I just changed it here. And not AKON.

Thanks a lot for the useful information.

I understand from cars well and I drived Bimmers for several years. I know lots of things about them I was member of several Bimmer forums and were joining to all meetings.

But I am unfamiliar with Toyota or Lexus Soarers.

SO As you say that most of the Soarers are speeding on tracks and used badly so I must be lucky to find a clean one???

And one more question I really do not understand why most of the 1991 model Soarers for sale has 130 -150000km ??? ISnt it too low for their age?
Or are they cheating on km of the Soarers often? Is it common in Australia? I really dont know I like to know. Thanks.

Some cars have probably had the odometer fiddled, others may be real km's, but traffic in Japan can mean a lot of engine running but going nowhere.

I would not say that most have been used on tracks or driven badly. V8's are usually looked after a bit better though, but there are no hard and fast rules.

no no i didnt mean that at all mate :-) was just spinning a yarn :-)

most soarer's you will find in fairly reasonable condition, but most people tend to look after their soarer's and so its not uncommon to find one with low k's and be in very good condition :-)

as peter says, most imported soarer's from around the 91 year seem to have very low k's as they dont really drive everywhere in japan. australian delivered soarer's tho of the same year (v8 ones) you will find have much higher k's due to the fact that in aus your next door neighbor could be half a k away! and we pretty much drive where ever we want to go.

Thanks alot.

By the way Im too much confused between some adds.

Cause I am unfamiliar with Australian Road Rules and certificates and insurance issues.

First: As I heard I should have a pink slip everytime I need to update rego right?

Second: I dont know if RWC is compulsary for a car to be sold on my name and if I will drive legally on Australian Roads ? Yes or no? IF yes then why people sell without REGO and without RWS ? Is people buying without REGO and putting Soarers to their garage just to stare?

Thirdly: (INSURANCE) As I heard that non of the companies will not insure a Soarer which is imported is that right? And there is one company that insure for at least 2000 per year and doesnt give insurance at smashing to other party ??

Are there any Soarers in Australia which are not import ? (Which are from Toyota Australia Distributor)

And I m scared to buy a Soarer with twin turbo. Are there Soarers without twin turbo which are not V8? ( probably 6 cylinder and without turbo??)

And are all AU distributed ones without twin turbo??

Im sorry I asked alot but I need answers to these quesitons. I want to buy my Soarer soon.

i cant help you on that one as i have not had a car to drive in 5 years! so the rules have changed around a bit, but i will be in the process of registering mine very soon so then i shall be able to answer those questions.

you can get just about nay car insured. its just a matter of shopping around.

there is a non turbo, non v8 soarer, they have the 2jzge motor. 6 cylinder

im still a newbie in all this so dont take my answers as gospel. lol. ask any of the goo roo's, they will tell you what you need to know. (provided you have exhausted the search function on this forum in search of the answer your looking for)

In QLD, if registration is being transferred into your name as part of the sale, then yes, a RWC must be supplied :-)

hmm thanks for all answers.

By the way is buying an import car a disadvantage in Australia cause of insurance issues?

If I buy a Soarer will insurance be a problem?

My friend told me that no body wont insure the car?

is RACQ 3. party insurance okay? and how much will it cost ?

By the way is pink slip same thing with RWC ?

Can I trust on RWC or pink slip?

A Soarer with RWC has no oil leak, good compression in engine, good transmission, balance, brakes, tires? IS RWC covering this all including engine compression?

I asked alot Im sorry but I need answers to these questions. Cheers all.

Just Car and Shannons will insure Soarers, and probably others as well.

The other questions vary depending what state you are in, so I can't help as I am not familiar with how things work in Qld.

By the way I live in Rockhampton / Queensland.

How much will insurance cost ?

By the way there are 2 types of Soarers 6 cylinder 2.5 twin turbo and V8 ones right?

Is it better idea to choose v8 one because turbo and turbo parts may complete their life cycle at a car at that age????
