Hi All,

nice to finally find a forum for the soarer. :-) I have 3 cars at the moment. The V8 Soarer (SC400), Celica GT4 & Nissan NX (soon to be daily)

Unfortunately the soarer is off the road and now unregistered. It has major power steering problems and the interior is falling apart. But I have big dreams for her that I hope in a year or so I should be able to start fulfilling.

So a big Hi to all fellow soarer lovers. I love my car..

Welcome to the site.

Nice looking vehicles, both of them.

Always had a soft spot for the GT4's too!

Welcome!

Interesting set of cars, the Soarer may be falling apart on the inside, but the outside looks fantastic.

The celica GT-four was always one of my favorite cars, they can really push power onto the road :-)

The nissan NX is interesting, a friend considered that for about half a day before deciding in a blink of an eye on a toyota sera instead. I'm glad he did, sera's are awesome. But yeah, the NX is a pretty great daily car if thats the intent.

Where abouts in qld are you? It looks semi-tropical from the palm trees :-)

Thanks all :-) Im in the Goldie. yeah love the GT4.. Three very different rides which i love.

The NX was a spur of the moment choice. not a too bad of one. I got it quite cheap as it had a bit of hail damage.. after a lot of headaches - long story - its getting close to coming on the road. It will eventually go to my little brother i think... see what happens. Wont be hard to offload if i decide that as well. Even just for the engine. SR20s are quite popular.

Yeah thats an understatement :-)

Good to have you around, I actually looked at probably 3 soarers on the goldcoast before I bought this one which was from a lovely middle aged woman in palm beach. While driving back I saw several more soarers. They are pretty popular around there i think :-)

Of course I had my eye in, looking pretty actively for them.

When you say power steering issues, have you looked into it much? Is it something you can do yourself with a replacment/rebuilding pump?

NX is based on the AE Corolla platform, like the Levin etc isn't it? So its probably practically bullet proof. My wife had an AE101 for about six years, fantastic little car that I hardly ever had to do any work on - had done 170,000km's by the time we sold it and was still humming along just as good as when she bought it.

Interiors are one of the easiest bits of a car to work on, so quite a good idea to buy a car with a shabby interior but good body work.

Matthew... NX Coupe = Nissan... AE Corolla = Toyota

So I'm not sure where you get that from?

If it were to be based on a hatchback floorpan, I'd hazard a guess and say the maybe the N14 Pulsar would be closer to the mark.

Lol, the NX is a beast that's all I can say :-)

No I haven't really looked into the power steering prob as yet, though I have been told needs a new pump and hose with a few bearings etc... Had a look at getting hoses and min was around $600 so yeah been put on the back burner.

Have the nissan on first priority for time & $$ once that is on the road the celica has a few tid bits to get done.... as There is sooo much I want to get done to the soarer its last on the list so I can spend all I have on it :-)

He's confusing the NX is kind of like a crazy pulsar compared to the um sera which is like a crazy starlet?

Just be careful to check your power steering pump isnt leaking/spraying onto your alternator, as that might compound your problems even further

I owned a NX for 4 years, they share the B13 platform with the US Sentra and many suspension components from the N14. The Aus spec NX came with AD22VF brakes from the GTiR which is pretty sweet, a common upgrade is the GTiR quad throttle SR20DET which isn't a lot of work to drop in.

Not a bad car apart from the cheap plastics which Nissan made at the time, and the ugly oval headlights.

body kit I have just bought for the NX has the round light holes, look pretty nice with it on. Getting paint quoted atm and somehow going to get someone to fit it as I wouldn't have a clue.. lol, yea if i dont give it to my brother may put the DET in it and bolt on a small turbo.

With the soarer. That's worried me a bit. It's been leaking for a long time and I was driving it for a while just before the celica was on the road. I guess I'll find out when i pull it all apart in the near future. Gotta love it hey.

I luckily found a 2nd hand alternator for $110, which is working well. So even in the worst case scenario you shouldn't be looking much more than that.

Welcome Nina, and for your power steering hoses, just take the old ones to Enzed or some place that repairs hydraulic hoses and get the hoses repaired.

Will save you a lot of money.

My high pressure hose was about $200 to fix.
