9th pic: when i walked into the shed this afternoon i found a coule of things old mate's son got for me one was this auto surround (no need for yours anymore tim, cheers for holding onto it for me tho bud) the other thing i found was..... a black flip out cup holder!!! score! ok back to the point, the auto surround was a v8 one with tems switches. so instead of renering them useless i took the pins out of the plug that was on it, and correctly installed the pins into the TT plug. avoids having ugly holes.
10th pic: here is another shot of the pins in the correct spots. so i now have switches i can use for CAM's manualised shift box when i install it , not sure if i will yet as i thought that it would allow me to shift electronically with buttons... i have read about the suprasticks now tho and thats taking my fancy (c'mon income)
11th pic: i'll get decals or stickers made up for the tems swiches so they read converter lock up on/ off and manual/ auto
12th pic: ive also decided to run a power wire directly from the battery to the car pc with a 20amp in line fuse, too much of a headache looking for power in amongst all the mess, this will go to a distribution block under the center garnish/ console for whatever i need battery 12V for. the thicker wire is for the amp (when i get more funds) i fed this through the car's firewall boot for the ecu and so forth, made the tiniest slit, fed it through and seal around the wires with black silica. looks tidy enough and still weather proof.

13th pic: car pc in dash checking for fit and if i need to put little trim bits on the outer edge so as to achieve a factory fit look. no need for this, just need to bring the screen out flush with the climate control face. ( i put it back 2mm from flush assuming it would need some trim bits.
14th pic: looks the biznich, also since the volume knob is of no use i have sussed out that the green and orange wires from the plug are the ones i need to splice into to use the volume/ power knob as my manual on/ off for the car pc factory lookin indeed
15th pic: also read the supra stick is fully programmable through the com port of a computer, so if i do eventually get the suprastick i shall be able to control it fully and program it live

What the hell is a "malicious damage inspection?" - surly if a car passes roadworthy it must be legal to drive? Is it some kind of new rort the Aussie nanny state have come up with to extract more money from people who have already been victimised?

honestly mate, i wouldnt have a clue, but im guessing there was some bad blood over the whole incident with the car and seeing the dirt and damage underneath i'd say the car was stolen and then later recoverd by the owner. i googled it and found this pdf as an example, comes under repairable write off. old mate's son says he even has to write out receipts for all the replaced glass and stuff for the inspection?? but 450 for the inspection?? i for one cannot justify why it costs so much to check a car? unless they stick it on a jig and stuff? check chassis for damage.. really has me stuffed
i'm just hoping this doesnt turn out any worse or any other bad news crops up, as ive had my serve of three bad things already...

sure does, has to pass repairable write off inspection.
also after checking numbers and remembering little details about the car, i now suspect its a jzz30 GT-TL numbers 0033399 so made end of may 95, i suspect it's a GT-TL cause of the TEMS and the Leather stitched shifter and also purifier and cruise control. strange that the TEMS switches on this auto surround dont connect to any other pins on the plug... and no leather seats?? it's got GT-T badges as well... so a little bit of confusion as to the real identity of this car.

cheers daniel, i know that the TEMS switches are for the v8, i'll be using them for the shift box. as stated above. but my car has the little caps on the top of the struts, i know they dont have airbags, but don't some TT's come with TEMS? i have read that cruise control, TEMS, leather stitching came on the GT-TL's..

sweet! hehehe any way of controlling this seperately? can the TEMS v8 controllers also function on the TT TEMS? or are those controllers airbag only? not too sure if i have the lcd mirrors tho. i shall butcher the wrecked passenger mirror to find out if its a shaker style one

good news people!!! i have found myself another job, start this monday coming. so the ball will continue to roll on the black beast! wooo!!
new job is reclaiming engines for the mining industry. repairing cracked blocks, regrinding cams, crank shafts and the like. also have ceramic coating , the workshop has the capacity to handle 30 engines at once. biggest being a 68 litre V20 cummins, right up my alley in terms of automotive fabrication, fitting, turning, machining. better pay rate too

ok worked on car today. ripped out old amp and stacker. too much of a headache tracing the wires to speakers and amp and so forth, bought myself a jaycar response 5 channel full digital amplifier for... wait for it... $294 rrp of $600
bad news, while installing that, my mate with the r32 gtr helped me out, but while we were working on my soarer, someone had reversed into the parked gtr and wrecked the drivers rear quarter.... being aluminium its going to be a pian, they also just took off and left no notice or exchanged details. considering we were 5 meters from the car when it happened you'd expect to be at least notified. now the gtr is going to be unoriginal and most likely bogged up to repair.
other things to note. cleaned the front seats today and lo and behold.... they are electric!!!! gt-tl for sure

oh yeah, soo soo angry.. yet soo sad.. but theres nothing anyone can do about it. no one saw it. neighbors were good people and have no problems acting as witnesses for insurance purposes.

yeah it is. insurance wont cover it as the person who hit it drove off and we didnt have any details. mate has a 1900 dollar excess. so if it comes to that, better off buying and AC/DC TIG and find a gtr going to the wreckers nd cut the god rear quarter off and i'll weld it up and blend it in. ugh... people these days!!!!

gtr panel is not aluminium. started to rust the whole shell is steel the panel are aluminium.
back to the car pc, got the bluetooth gps unit the other day. $50 works a charm! can provide gps for phones and pda as well. used a free program called EARTHBRIDGE, uses the gps data stream from your selected com port, and converts it to kml file for use with google earth! works fantastically.
although odyssey navigator by twig for 150 (has voice navigation and speed camera locations.) would be a more sensible choice as google earth would chew up my wireless broadband very quickly indeed.

had 6 hours on the old girl sunday just gone. (after a night out at a 21st!) and she's just about ready for inspection and rwc. only a few things to take care of. passenger indicator bulb in headlamp, passenger fog light bulb, and brake bleed (hope it stops the accumulator noise and warning)
pics. electric seats are near on perfect! drivers side back trim has warped slightly and the hook has broken off the chipboard so it just out a little, i'll fix it up once its home
started engine and rolled it out, went through gears to 'feel' if anything was wrong or making odd noise. nothing so far and the fluid is clean as a whistle. same goes for the engine oil.

hehehe excellent! hahaha as soon as its on the road its drive up to your place and catch up then roadtrip to bundy to get me a pallet of the coffee rum liquer oh so tasty!
on another note. i put the xr6 wheels on it today and took it for a little cane up the street and back. blew out all the condensation in the exhaust (thought the water was a possible blown headgasket), as i sat in the driveway i turned off trc and gave it a stab. just a little one. squealed then drove it back in. good news is that although the brake warning light still came on. the noises dis appeared so could just be air. didnt get a chance to bleed as we were on our way to the coast. put her away locked the shed and as i walked out i noticed the two black lines where i squealed the tires... possibly an LSD i hope so.

great news! just got the message today from old mate. car is ready to be picked up. passed malicious damage inspection and rwc BAM! now to find a day off to get her registered!!! booya!
going to pick it up tomorrow and drive it home with trade plates, then the real work of detailing, cleaning and modding begins!
also when i fixed the headlight indicator problem i found that someone had cut and wired in a h3 bulb as a replacement. so had to cut that off and revert back to the old bulb style.

a few more pics. picked up car weekend just gone. drove on dealer plates, passed malicious damage inspection and got rwc so now to save funds for rego and insurance. did the 2nd final install on the carpc over the weekend (waiting on the climate control from tim) and of all times to happen.... crack! went the touchscreen glass. not to worry a replacement can be had for 40 bucks. good thing it has to come out again.
this pic shows the remote control for the 5 ch jaycar digi amp mounted and the whole system wired up for sound and startup, 4x usb hub next to amp remote. status led's above amp remote and another 4x usb flexible connectors hanging to the passenger side under the cup holder
this pic shows the boost gauge installed in a temporary location. although i rather like it there i have better plans for it. also through the steering wheel you can see the greddy turbo timer installed and mounted just under the air purifier switch, also the carpc powered up under the cars power, doesnt reset after crankin the engine so thats all sweet. the amp remote on fron the psu wasnt working correctly. it kept giving me no more than .08v reading so i went to an ignition switched 12v on to turn the amp on. sound quality?... surprisingly good im happy to report! 24 bit 98000k quality different setting for movie programs and music programs. also have manual on/off switch for carpc wired into the factory stereo on/off push knob pity i cant contemplate how i would go about using it for volume as well... i could perhaps splice the amp remotes wiring into it??
in all the eagerness to work on the car i finally remembered to take a pic of it once it was in the garage! doh! will take a better pic tomorrow out in the sun.
