Hello, my Blue 94 V8 GT-L has just been delivered to my house on the back of a tilt tray. G`day my names Ian "Yobbo" and this is how my story starts. I picked the soarer up off a mate who need some quick cash, It has a stuffed starter motor, new one was included, and a stuffed window regulator, again a new one was included and no stereo, he had already sold that off, and it has the blinky dash. I have about 2 months before I can go back to work due to a work injury, and after watching "wheeler dealers" on foxtel I decided to have a go at "wheeler dealing" myself.

The Soarer has 135k on it, and has sat in a garage for the last 2 years. I will keep you posted on how it all goes, so far it owes me $2k for the car and $140 for a tilt tray

ok in my first 24 hours as a soarer owner I have stripped the intake off and replaced the starter motor ( waiting on gaskets and knock sensor to arrive before putting it all back together)

Replaced the drivers side electric window mech and refitted the door trim

washed almost 2 years of dust off the car ( this is how long the car sat)

Next will be the blinky dash fix,

and found out the car only has 124k on it not 135k as I thought, ( I found this out when I put a battery in test the fast glass)

I fixed the blinky dash, now I need to fix the electrical, it turned out the last cash poor owner replaced the starter 60amp fusible link with a screw

anyhow this is how the soarer looked after I washed 2 years of dust off,

I know nothing about soarers, but I know those nissan wheels have to go

Yeah I was pretty surprised, but it was only a 5 min wash, just a hose off and a bucket of soapy water and a sponge, once I get it going I will give it a polish, I figure I should get it going first, but not a bad buy for $2k I think, be even a better buy once it`s going

ITS ALIVE

My parts from toyota arrived today, and a few hours later the V8 came to life, now this engine had not been started for nearly 2 years, when it first fired the was knocking, smoking and coughing but a few minutes later it was purring like a kitten, the power steer is very stiff, no doubt the fluid needs changing, I will now change all the fluids, I will get a safety cert. and get it on the road early next week.

Thanks again to everyone who helped

Today I flushed the power steer, changed the oil, got a safety cert. and 6 months rego. so in one week I got the soarer back on the road after sitting for nearly 2 years, very impressive to drive. I am waiting on a ebay cheapie double din DVD player / GPS to arrive so I can fill the hole in the dash

Hi Kyle, no mate the air bags are fine, the previous owner adjusted them so at the low setting they are very low. I was quite surprised how easy it passed a RWC, although the dump pipes the previous owner had put on were a bit questionable, I went over the rules with the mechanic and in the end he passed it, although I think I will end up putting the standard exhaust back on, it looks a bit dicky at the rear with the cutouts in the bumper but no pipes sticking out, although it does sound sweet

Thanks Tim, as I said in my first post, this is my "Wheeler Dealer" project (TV show from the UK) so I have a tight budget, and as wheels are a very personal choice, If I put a "neutral" set on the next owner can personalise it to their liking.

Having said all this though, its getting quite comfy in my carport............... but I already pay rego and insurance on a patrol, landcruiser, and a old rodeo ute, plus a caravan. Rego and insurance is another $2300 per year for the soarer

mate nice to hear on the lil profit you made. I think theres a certain limit of cars you can privately buy and sell in a year in WA. Not sure if its the same for you, otherwise it may make a nice hobby/pocketmoney maker for you!
