Hey jessica. Welcome. First of all learn to help yourself. EVERY issue you will ever have with your car is probably already posted here in some form with a resolution. Learn to use the Search function as it works well. And the topics page contains all the useful stuff for Soarer noobs. gl

Welcome Jess! What are your plans for the car? Just enjoy it as it is, or give it a few mods? What part of tassie are you from? I've got some relatives down in Hobart. Took my Soarer down there just last Christmas. Was a blast heading down to Hobart from Devonport, and the road to Port Arthur was good fun too!

Complete overhaul!!! Gezzz you must have deep pockets! I have about $2k worth of parts on order from Toyota (and I tend to get REALLY good cheap prices) and that is basically just a full service! stuff like plugs, leads, timing belt etc etc and a few preventative bits like kitting the p/steer pump!

You're not wrong there Allan. My 100k service wasn't cheap.

Hrm my 100 000k service was about 640 dollars for: Waterpump thermostat Cam seals Cam cover seals crank seal gasket goo oil filter oil radiator fluid transmission fluid spark plugs fuel filter air filter Not too bad, spent another $150-200 dollars on getting my radiator cleaned too (15% blocked according to red devil). Of course labour was done by me. Of course i spent less because it's only a straight 6 and i have less cylinders to worry about I went to a place called budget auto spares in oxley. I'd reccomend talking to a guy named "Pete" there because most of the other guys are clueless, but he was very friendly and really knew about my car. Which was a welcome change compared to toyota parts.

yep 6cyl is MUCH cheaper! i'm doing all those parts + trans filter, all coolant hoses, plug leads, 2x dist caps, 2x rotor buttons, top radiator tank and other little bits!

First thing I saw was - "Oh oh, first car a large, complex, old RWD coupe with 191KW and a bucketload of torque, purchased in winter... that can't be a good first car for so many reasons!" but I guess if you are sensible and have plenty of money and time...

They sound cooler and are slower. Two good reasons... more smiles, less tickets.
