Hi Soarer fans,my name is gavin and i am from Sydney.I have been going over the forum and all of the helpful tips and information that is on here about all sorts of soarers because i am considering buying a imported 91 SC400 UZZ31 for a project.
Not an ordinary soarer no..It has been Supercharged with an Eaton M90 kit, modded air bag setup and a pretty nasty exhaust.I know the car reasonably well as i sold the SC kit to the current owner who i have known for years. The SC kit was planned for a 1UZ/R154 Toyota cressida i owned until like many projects had to sell out due to other commitments.I also built up a 1JZ/R154 cressida before the 1UZ cressida that i used regularly at initial drift club drift events and always using the cressida.net forums and toymods forums. These forum taught me a lot about the cressida and i am grateful for all i have learned from there and some of the fun i have had on cruises.
I have some goodies left over from the last intended project with the cressida that i want to utilise in this project..A R154 gearbox and pedal set up that was suitable for the 5spd conversion on the cressida and some nice jap stern wheels with five star black centres and a chrome lip with around 10-12cm of dish.Well thats the general idea
Anyway,,I am currently hoping for some advice to do with purchasing this SC soarer as i am sort of stuck as to what it is really worth to buy and thought some of you may be able to give me a ball park figure.
I took some pics today but unfortunately my hopelessness with technology has let me down again and i have somehow deleted the pics from my phone before i could upload them to photobucket.
The car is a Dark blue imported 91 SC400 UZZ31 with air bags but no tems as the owner has modified the system so it can change the height much quicker than standard. No TV screen or satnav what i would give a 5/10 interior condition and a 7/10 exterior condition from what i have seen on this forum.Thank in advance for any help

True, don't see many of them for sale. Still modifications like that might make it easier to sell the car, but aren't going to add more than a couple of thousand to the value - less if you can't prove its been done properly.

Hi guys and thanks for the comments. The engine bay is immaculate with the SC running a 6.5psi pulley and intake and SC painted black. He has also fitted new radiator, sard rising rate fuel reg.Walbro in tank fuel pump and new headlights. It comes with 5mths rego
The main things i was concerned about were the mods to the airbags by by passing the tems and the resale value being an import..Does the fact it is an import devalue it a little or is this not a concern? There are some confusing dash displays as well.
He was originally asking 9k for 2 x 91 soarers. One being stock and missing a few parts worth about $500 and the SC one.I decided i would not buy the second one for parts and made a starting offer of $7.5k just for the SC one before driving the car.He has accepted the offer and after driving the car i am now trying to make the decision to buy or not to buy.

Oops,my previous post was a little confusing the way i have worded it.The parts the second SC400 is missing are worth $500 and both cars are badged as Lexus SC400 not Toyota Soarer.Sorry for the confusion. Thanks for the comments anyhow guys.

It is deceptive in how it reaches speed as the auto box seems to soak up most of the feeling of acceleration. It is very smooth and reaches 100k effortlessly without the hit in my old 1J cress but that was running at around 220 rwkw with stock turbo's on 17psi.
This is why i would like to fit a five speed with a decent clutch.
It looks like i am going to buy it so everyone can look forward to some pics and progress reports.

Well hello again..
Funny how things can evolve and then bam!!Hello supercharged SC400
All the formentioned plans in the thread will be going ahead along with some usual ones like changing the interior colour to black..
Heres some intro pics of the car i took with the bags dumped at the World Time Attack Event at Eastern Creek a couple of weeks ago.Along with some of the parts intended for the car.The Charger is already fitted and running and the engine bay looks mint..I will get some pics up asap..
I already have the G'box + pedal and slave from the intended 5spd conversion on the old 1UZ cressida.I am hoping i can use the slave + pedal setup on the "soarzy" I am currently researching the right parts for the box to be fitted and where to source them from,ie:bell, fly, clutch and driveshaft options.
Pics
??? I dont seem to be able to post pics from Flickr...?? charger manifold
Looks like a fun car. Post up some figures and times when ya get them, for other members references. Im looking at options of blower or turbo(s) for my v8 when funds allow, and am interested in outputs, and good luck with it.

Yeah im very happy with it at the moment .. Immediate plan is to fix up and finish the exhaust,roll/lip the gaurds and finally fit the R154 that i have had laying around for three years ..
Tax return has cleared and everything is go =) .. Ive been keeping the box at my mates farm (the guy i bought it off) and he needs to measure the length of the input shaft before i can order all the goodies .. My mate is a mechanic in a small shop out west of Sydney so it should be up on a hoist one weekend soon to get the most of the job underway and hopefully have the tailshaft sorted through the week ready to complete the job the following weekend ..
I have just paid for an Adaptronic 420d ECU and waiting delivery so i can run a 10-12psi pulley with water methanol injection which will be the next stage ..
