Hi everyone, been reading this forum for a while now, great info here. Scored this '91 JZZ30 TT for $5000. My girlfriend bought it off a bogan who couldn't hang on to his license. It scared the pants off her so she sold it to me :} Needed a bit of suspension and body work and a day at the mechanics but now it's perfect. WOOHOO! what beautiful cars these soarers are. So here she is... introducing 'Ziggy Soarer'

It's an automatic.
Air con doesn't work and it has a slight leak from the power steering pump, so maybe not quite perfect yet. Haven't had it over 150kph yet, roads around here are not the best and (don't laugh too hard), only found top gear a couple of days ago

The beast has been losing a small amount of water, I've traced the source to the infamous water pump. Timing belt seems pretty new , looks like it's been changed by previous owner but they didn't bother with the pump. Wondering (seeing as it isn't losing heaps), if I ought to replace it or just throw in some 'stop leak' . From what I can tell the timing belt and pulley has to be removed to replace the water pump. Can anyone tell me if that is indeed the case?

Yes, you will need to remove the harmonic balancer and belt to get at the water pump, but its really not that hard a job - the most difficult bit is getting the bolt off the end of the balancer. Don't use stop leak, that stuff will your radiator.

Thanks Matt, was wondering about the wisdom of pouring crap into it. Good news is , turns out it was the top radiator hose had a small split underneath and was spraying coolant down onto the pump body. Made it look like the pump was leaking but it's good. Much easier and cheaper fix

Well yes , Kyogle is quite close to Murwillumbah, just a very nice drive down Kyogle road.
If anyone is needing a top radiator hose for a TT in a hurry, one for a v6 Lexcen is perfect if you just chop a bit off the end. Had no chance getting a Soarer one around here.

Sure thing Jai, really impressed with the handling through the twisties. Except for the potholes the roads around Murwillumbah are great, haven't met anything that can keep up on the kyogle-murwillumbah road yet. The best was an Audi that was hard to shake on the corners but left it for dead on the straight bits.
