Grats on the new wheels, as a fellow newbie I gotta agree that the TT is a car a person really can fall in love with. How's the sound of the turbos spinning up when accelerating? Just beautiful. Can hear the quality.

I found I got much better results with measured application of throttle, rather then just flooring it. Firm but steady till I hear the turbos starting to wind up, then I give her some and it's adios commodore/falcon/integra/nsx whatever is on my tail at the time

Hmmm, well not sure what you mean by 'boost cut'. Mine took a bit of getting used to cos if i floored it too soon it would seem to bog down and go nowhere, is that what you mean? At low revs (<2.5k)it seems to have trouble coping with the amount of fuel it's getting or something. I have to take it a bit easy until it's closer to 3000rpm then I hear the turbos start to whine and that's when I can floor it. I've never experienced a 'cut' in boost, once I start getting it, acceleration is smooth and addictive. Maybe someone who knows a bit more about the technical side of these things can help.

Oh hang on , now I realise what you are talking about. Boost cut protects your engine and/or turbos from self destruction I think. You can fit a boost controller which dispenses with it and just lets it rip I assume. Maybe that is what you are after.

SEARCH! effin newbies...
Boost cut, fuel cut or whatever you want to call it can be removed with...wait for it...a boost cut defender, a fuel cut defender, or many types of aftermarket computers.
Boost cut is usually around the 12psi mark and you won't reach that without some mods like dumps, FMIC, controller, or it is minus 10 degrees and you are flooring it in 3rd. Toyota put it there because they decided that was as much boost as they would like to see in their motor.
Once you have searched, you will learn that FCD/BCDs come up from time to time in the for sale section, that some members can/used to make them (copies of Greddy version), and there are a few other quirky ways to remove the cut with electronic doodads and whatchamacallits.

thanks guys...i have boost controller, front mount inter, after market computer fitted.when the boost reaches 1 or 1.5 bar it starts misfiring or something like engine on and off and then when i stop accelerating for 2 secs and when i accelerate back it goes well....my spark plugs...coil packs..leads are all new. or do i need to tune the engine or something?

Aha, well according to the article I cited above:
" the Soarer has an over-boost defence mechanism, boost pressure at the inlet manifold is monitored by the ECU, in the event that a wastegate got stuck in the closed position and forced the turbo's to over-boost this would be detected by the ECU which would then cut off the fuel supply until the boost dropped below 14.5PSI. Although the mods described ... are designed to produce just short of the boost-cut there is a problem with spiking, this can occur on the gear changes allowing a momentary boost build up in the plenum chamber (you will see this as a quick flicker on a standard boost gauge) which invokes the fuel-cut causing a very nasty moment as the car feels like it has hit a brick wall. The FCD (Fuel cut defender) alters the signal sent to the ECU, allowing for the boost spike to happen without bringing in the fuel-cut ... an Apexi FCD, costs about £90 (UK article) and takes 20mins to install. "

thanks john...whatever you said was absolutely right...that is what happening to me. so if i install a FCD, wouldn't that damage the engine if i over boost it?what do you reckon, is it a good idea to install a FCD or just leave the engine as it is. sorry to ask you so much of questions,as i am new to this and i have no one to help or advice me. thanks again.

Well some of the other guys would know a lot more then me. Maybe install the FCD and try to control yourself a bit.
The only boost cut I ever experience is from the girlfriend. She emits an auditory alarm when I'm accelerating too hard , warning me that the passenger seat is about to get very wet.
