Hey all, I bought my uzz31 about a month ago and LOVE driving it. Because I'm on P plates, my boyfriend and I put a 2jzge in it. It was quite rough when I bought it (has really bad crazy cracks in the doors, and the bonnet and roof are faded) so I plan on getting it painted, and putting a black interior into it (if I can find one). The only bad thing about my car is the fuel economy, 430ks to a tank.

Woah, thats terrible economy from a 2JZ-GE. I did 300km yesterday and used about 2/5ths of a tank - mostly open road driving at 100+ KM/h of course - and a short stint stuck in rush hour traffic on the motorway, but that should give you an idea where you should be at - and I'm fairly heavy with my right foot, so its not like I'm Mr Economy or anything.

That sounds like a lot of work to put the 2JZ in?
Most of us get about 700kms from a 1JZ on open roads, from what I've noticed.

Shannon, I have a 2jz GE, and I do 450 on a tank of Premium ( I have tested it on my car and I do get fuel economy out of it) but thats if I put my foot down, otherwise this week I was driving Conservative and got about 570KM, week before that went on a long trip up north and got 600KM out of it, depends how you drive, But anyways 2jz in a UZ31 shell huh? You got air ride suspension then?

I get 11 litres/100km out of my 1uz. I think that's decent for a v8 and the size and weight of the car. Ends up being about 600kms for 66 litres a tank. My 1jz actually uses more then that.

I get around 600kms from 70 litres with the 1UZ. That's driving mostly around town, and I have a very heavy foot. All freeway driving, I can muster up close to 750kms to nearly a full tank.

Yeah and you have a heavy foot. I mostly take it easy and just redline a couple of times a tank. I think the 2jz is actually slightly heavier on fuel.

My 2JZ uses a lot less fuel than my 1UZ did - it goes further on a smaller tank. Open road driving is very similar, but around town the 2JZ is definitely more frugal.

Dejan, no air ride suspension. Someone mentioned getting new capacitors will help with the fuel economy?

It depends. I've heard some people getting about 13-14 ltrs/100km with the 2jz without thrashing it.

Probably needs a number of new things - how old is the ECU? The JZZ31 ECU's are all a little newer, and a little less prone to problems (as far as I can tell) than the UZZ3X ECU's. Its more likely to be something simple like a bad O2 sensor.

Welcome, Shannon. Why buy a V8 then go to the trouble of putting a six in it, when there are plenty of n/a Soarers around?

It didn't have a v8 in it when I bought it. It had a 2jzgte which had a bit of work done to it(which my boyfriend wanted as a spare for his supra). So we just bought a 95 2jzge out of a supra and put that in it.
