Hey guys. Just bought my first Soarer , 1991 twin turbo. Has a FMIC and boost controller. HID lights. and has had an engine rebuild. The problem is it has a turbo related problem. It does not boost at all. still drives fine. no apparent noises. Just really slow. I still have not picked up the car so i cant investigate further. but im guessing the twins are shagged. So i may be chasing a set in the coming weeks. Have been looking over the forum flatout for 2 days now. have learnt alot and hope to learn more. Would be good to meet up with some of you soarer owners once ive sorted my car out. I have come from a background of owning mainly rotors. and i knew the 1jz and 2jz motors were a great motor. but now from reading more im amazed how good they are. Was buying this car to make a quick buck because i got it cheap. But now ill definitly be keeping it. Luxury and performance in one. Considering i have a near 1 year old son. It makes it easier to go on long drives in this compared to a bridgeport turbo rotor.
Well thats it for now. Im sure you'll be seeing alot of posts from me. Although i do know and use the search button lol.

a soarer is much like a rotary, but you tip cash in everywhere rather then just the motor!

Check the intercooler pipes make sure they are all done up. The car will still run but wont boost or go hard.

Yer wen i pick it up im gonna go right over it. I drove it and it was just gutless as. Turbo's didnt sound rattly and it wasnt producing smoke. Cant wait to pick it up. Hopefully its something easy and it will be going in no time at all. Gotta get a roadworthy first too. Does anyone know a good place to go. Someone who isnt too harsh??

Long time since i started this. But this is where car is upto.

After picking up car. I discovered that code on dash was actually Engine electrical fault. Long story short had to replace cam as the lug on the cam that is for the cam sensor was snapped off. So i did timing belt and water pump also. After doing this i thought i would have fixed my boost problem,my theory was it was in limp mode. No such luck. But none the less that code was gone, still had an oxygen sensor code though. I decided to unbolt exhaust before the cat to see if this may help the situation, and what do you know it did, so i had a stuffed cat, quick drive to the exhaust shop and got a new one installed. driving home in my much quieter car, i worked out it was missing abit under boost. Around 3500 it was very apparent. So none the less i pulled the coils off to have a look, all cracked, bad. a few even wrapped in electrical tape. So ordered some superspark coil packs.

Decided to change the spark plugs while i was there, they were way tight, ended up snapping number 6 plug and dropping a rather large piece of plug down there. Tried to get it out with no luck, i ended up pulling turbos off to try blow it out off the exhaust valve with an air compressor down the plug hole. No luck, was clearly to big a piece, even tried a vacuum, no luck. I lost interest for a while, ended up buying a claw tool from bunnings and a 100 dollar inspection camera, located the piece, and after a few pokes down the hole i managed to pick up the piece and get it out. Gave it a good clean out ready to be all put together.

I was rather surprised pulling the turbos off. I had never done this before, though i am mechanically minded, all up it took me 4 n a half hours to do. Ended up wit a new tool set aswell haha. Also while getting a few random bits from a wrecker, the owner comes out and we start chatting, asks me what car i have, ends up telling me to go inside with him, pulls out a set of custom built dumps and says i dunno what these are worth mate, these things looked good, and i was expecting to pay atleast 400 dollars, scored them with some other parts like sensors and covers for $150 !!! Was indeed very happy.

So i got some new gaskets and parts. Ended up being rather busy and not looking at the car for a few months, then decided to get back into it. Put it all together with new dumps and a new set of braided oil feed and return lines. Ended up getting it going just before christmas.

I was actually looking to sell the car. I was looking to buy a track only 180sx or silvia. Dont ask me why. Must of forgot to take my brain medication. Now ive decided that though the soarer is heavier, im going to drift it anyway, After reading through a few build threads in here ive got some good ideas to get this car weighing less. I just need to find a manual conversion, which i think i may purchase a half cut.

I am just about to move back to nsw, hopefully buying a house within 3 months. So car will not see much money spent on it for a while. Though i will be selling off alot of unneccessary weight i mean interior in the coming months. most is in good nick and will be pulling it out and storing it with care so if you need stuff let me know.

until next time.
