Hi Everyone, thought I'd finally join after looking at this forum for quite a while, I have a 91 TT soarer I got about a year ago,
Haven't done much to it yet.
Just love the shape of the car, it looks timeless to me :-)

I'll try upload a picture after work tonight.

Had a conversation with a guy at a set of traffic lights last week asking me about my Soarer (he was driving a late model Mondeo) - said he had one in the garage that he's keeping as he thinks its a future classic. Time will tell I guess.

Where is the link to the guy who found a new new Uzz32 in the UK. Only appeared posted a few weeks ago but I cannot find that post again.

That's why mine is parked up. When I have the cash it'll be restored to mint condition (with a ton of go-fast bits too), but one of these bright sunny days there will be very few Soarers out there in good condition.

Not many left in NZ now - for a few years they were owned by yobbos as daily drivers who crashed them or drove them into the ground or got them impounded - now the only ones left are usually in pretty good condition & often 2nd or 3rd cars - a couple of years back I'd see several a week, now other than the guy down the road who owns a nice one (that is also sitting in his garage and hardly ever leaves), I'm lucky if I see one a month. Even mine is very much a 2nd car these days - I still drive it every time I'm going out alone, but so often I'm with the kids, so I just take the family wagon.

Was down in Hamilton last Thursday, Matthew, but didn't see any others despite me looking. I did notice that the Skyline boyracer scum element is more vocal than the ones in Auckland though :-)

So true - Hamilton is the only city I know of that has a whole TV show dedicated to its boy racers and bad drivers.

Funny enough most of the Skylines are 2.0 N/A's with fart can exhausts attached to make them sound fast.

You had different import regs, I think, Matthew, which stopped a lot of Soarers coming in, especially earlier ones. Something to do with "safety", I suspect.

Oh, and welcome to SC, Cuong:-)

Yes, we had some frontal impact requirements introduced at some point that the Soarer had no evidence of testing I think. There were a lot of 19/92 UZZ30/31 models imported in the late 90's, and pretty much no UZZ models imported after that - a number of JZZ30 TT's imported around the same time, then a gap of a few years and a whole lot of 1994-1997 TT's and JZZ31's (including mine) and JZZ30 T's imported in the mid 00's - and then nothing imported at all from about 2007 on - its pretty rare to see any Soarer after a 97 for sale here - I think I can recall seeing one '99 model on Trademe once - may have been a private import.
