Hi everyone, I just got myself a 1991 Soarer Limited and really loving it! Unfortunately I haven't had much time driving it since I bought it unregistered from NSW.
I'm currently in the process of fixing up some niggles.
Can't wait to get it registered and drive it but I would like to clarify something with Soarer owners in the ACT - the lady at the RTA said that I had to get a RWC done at the Dickson motor registry since it was an import vehicle. Do I really have to? I can't get this done at any other authorised mechanic?
I did a forum search but I didn't really find anything conclusive, only a small thread dated back in 2008. Any help would be awesome!
Sorry for the crappy picture, I'll post up some proper ones soon. Looking forward to meeting the Soarer community!
Hey mate, congrats on the new soarer! Loving the blue paint, looks very clean
As for the RWC, when I picked mine up late last year I just took it down to Gas Tune in Tuggeranong. Blokes there passed her with no problems though I don't think they do a very thorough job looking the cars over. So if you want to get it by with little chance of a defect notice they're (from my experience) the guys to go to.
Unless you have a notice from the RTA to say that it absolutely HAS to go to Dickson, then you should be fine to take it to anywhere in Canberra that's authorised to do a RWC.
Also, good to have a new member in the ACT. Will definitely give a honk and a wave if I see you around
Thanks guys Luckily, the car came with those clean headlights, the paint on the other hand has it's fair share of chips and scratches that the camera does not pick up but it's alright I think
I finally got my Soarer registered and fixed up, thanks to Neil.

Yeah, pretty blown away by the condition of them. Still jealous of the dark blue.
Glad you got it all sorted, now you can enjoy while it isn't raining!
Unfortunately close to non-existant. From the digging, the last event for Canberra was a while ago. Would like to see a bit more of an interest being taken in these cars, at least here in Canberra.
