Hi Guys,

I'm Jason from VIC melbourne.A few months ago i had been in this forum and was asking about swapping. Well here is my story how my car buying, selling and swapping ended me up with this beautiful V8 beast.

I'm an international student and therefore buying high performance car isn't my worries.( Yet I'm not a hoon!)

my first i bought was a Mitsubishi FTO GR RED quite beautiful with full veilside bodykit but lack of power and it doesn't have Rego and RWC. At first i thought it was okay to fixed it up and get it RWC and Rego but i lost my job the week after and was a game over for me, sold it cheap provide RWC at buyer cost.

With the funds i left i became an average joe and bought a 1998 Honda Civic as i need to get find work and public transport is not an option if i travel zone 1 and 2 cost me alot and annualy the fares been rising. RWC it and abit of rego left. Found a job nearby my place and pretty much fuel is not a problem for me.

Then it came to me, someone wanted to swap or sell his soarer on gumtree. I went to take a look and other then door trims was a disaster and the bonnet some home diy sprayed black all seems okay. But to me is a Big Bet, a civic for a soarer? Bushes? CV joints? and many other stuff was my worries. I took the bet and took the car. i had to pay to put on rego and a RWC done by the previous owner as the car had a fully customized twin exhaust and it seems passing RWC not quite possible.

The day i drove it back and jack it up for a check below. Gosh! Bushes were almost brand new! cv joints and others was good condition as well as the air suspension. i was totally amazed. No leaks or over heating issues!

What the car has when i bought it:
1) Fully customized exhaust, very loud ( expecting to be at least 95)
2)2Stage Shift Kit, auto gearbox shift abit faster then normal.
3)Adjustable ride height.
4) HID
5) Iphone connection ( Haven't figure out how to connect it)

What I had done to the car until now:
1) change all the seats belts
2)change the boot lid as the spolier was missing and i put on a black one to look better in my opinion.
3)polished the headlights

i was able to do all this because my housmate is wrecking his TT soarer in the house. pretty must i just take out parts i want and pay him.

What I will be doing to it in these recent months
1) Aircon was very noisy when turn on will get it fix
2) Putting in TT break calipers all around
3) Door trims! both side!
5) Black bonnet ( From TT)
6) Lenzo 19 inch deep dish, currently on original JDM stern 17 inch
7) Wheel Alignments
8) and try to figure out how do i connect my phone to play songs

Pic will be up soon as i'm just too busy nowadays :-(

Cheers guys! I hope too social around and learn from the pro soarer owners around!

Glad you got rid of the FTO - those cars suck balls - honestly the Civic is a better car than an FTO because at least its honest.

Stick with the JDM wheels, 19" don't look right on Soarers - too big for such a rounded car - 18's the biggest you can get away with (IMO of course) and 17's are just about perfect.

It's all personal opinion of course

Something else to consider when replacing wheels though is today I was run off the road and thanks to my big bulgy tyres I suspect, there was no suspension or wheel damage - just a blown sidewall (still needed a new tyre of course) And the truck did not stop, and I was too shaken up to get his rego. Expensive day at the office.

Thanks Guys for the advice!

I will upload the 17 inch currently on my car and the lenzo next to it and we will see which is for good :-). My mate selling me the lenzo at a very reasonable price that's why i want them :-). I plan to put on 255 or 265 starched them to fit will look nice in my opinion and because i don't want to buy 265 front and 285 rare tyres, too expensive :-(.

Oh and one question, my TEMS suspension signal keep blinking on my dash? is it telling me something? the TEMS switch in my boot was switch on but in car i just put TEMS on normal.

I think 19's are the perfect size visually on a soarer.

Ya, we have have a lot of TT part to sell but just can't get the time to part the soarer and posting for sale. Now i'm slowly fixing my car up as i think one of my suspension is gone. I heard noise coming from my rare passenger side not sure what is it but i just hope it's not anything major, but TEMS light is blinking :-(. Well, i did think of getting a skyline but this swap deal is the best option already therefore i take the Soarer :-)

Rims will be the last thing i will be putting in as the 17 inch stern wasn't that bad looking after all :-)

The lambo doors could be useful esp if you were boxed in by those not knowing soarers have longish doors....

been almost trapped that way a few times...only got about 1 foot space to squeeze myself in

Eric,

True, soarer doors are heavy and long. the weight explain why most of our door trim cracks and thorn apart. I looking for new pair of door trims for mine and i might do a bit of mods on my door, i had planned to add in a metal door bar attached to the door and go thru the door trims handle. this will give in a lot more strength for the door while open instead just the door trim's plastic holding it.

For lambo doors, as far as i know those universal lambo doors are pretty much crap? and need panel beating to fit them? I'm interested to do it on mine if there is any good ones out there :-)

Soarer doors have a double action hinge which moves the door forward as well, so they arent as bad as they could be.

Hey Guys,
I need some help on my Iphone connectivity to play songs. when i got the car it comes with a stereo wire connecting all the way to the driver side. It looks simple by just plugging in my phone and able to play song but i end up searching all the FM1 and FM2 channels to find the channel which connect my phone to the radio, i end up no luck searching for it :-( . Tried to ask the previous owner about which channel but he just said is on FM and no idea which channel :-(. Many thanks to who ever help me on this. The radio is getting too boring.
