Hi there,
I just bought my first UZZ30 and i am stoked. This car looks to be very well looked after and drives a delight. The tips on the ECU reset and throttle cable are awesome thanks a lot blokes. I do have 1 issue though with the passenger back rest power button not working and typical boot gas struts need replacing but hey i'm not complaining with all the advice here should make mince meat of that! I am on the Central Coast though and was wondering if anyone knows of a good mechanic? So happy to finally be apart of this wonderful community.
Cheers gents

Also looking at getting a new cat back exhaust system. The standard ones are ok, but i want it to sound a bit meaner at low revs. If anyone knows somebody i would really appreciate it.

Welcome Matt - My recommendation would be to get your struts re-gassed. Had mine done a few years ago and they have been perfectly fine ever since - they are very hard to get off though, make sure you have a really good quality spanner.

Cheers Matt, yeah i have read the confusion between 12mm and 7/16". I found some new struts on ebay for $50 i was just going to replace them myself. They seem like good quality, but can anyone comment?

There is a guide here on how to change your boot struts with eBay ones. Process will be the same for getting your regassed.

If you passenger seat doesn't tilt back I reckon it's either the physical switch or the motor.

Both seats all run through a single fuse so if all other functions of the seats are good, then it's gotta be the actual seat rather than the wiring in the car.

There is also a little control unit underneath the seat, I can't remember but possibly removing this allows the seat to move backwards and forwards but not tilting, so maybe make sure that's connected properly. You will have to remove the seat though.

If you want some help I can give you more info, I have taken my seats out a couple of times. Painful to get to the switch as well but it is possible.

Welcome Matt..A mate of mine had his twin system fitted to his V8 at Carline Exhausts at Tuggerah, they did a really good job. From memory i think he paid about $650 or $700 for a full catback system.

Thanks Alistair i will surely look into that that strut tutorial. I heard they can be difficult but it looks straight forward with the right spanner.

Cheers John i just looked the place ip and they seem pretty professional so i will try to swing by tomorrow.

Can't wait to go for a cruise with some fellow Soarer owners
