Just saying hello recently purchased my 1991 TT soarer absolutely love it I'm more of an old old Holden man but I must admit I think I have the soared bug now love the site heaps of useful info on here. She is all standard at the moment currently blowing some smoke so getting the turbos checked can't wait to have her back on the road

Hi there. I had a smoking issue. Only happened when hot though. At first I thought it was leaking valve stem seals, but it was sorted with running a thicker than stock oil. What smoking symptoms do you have? when/colour?

Hey, smokes a little when idling from cold but once you've revved it she starts bellowing out smoke and doesn't stop, I think it looks white but other people say it looks a little blue, but it smells oily I guess you can say. Auto electrics I'm fine with mechanical like this no that great at

make sure no scuffing in bores end float is a problem but up n down shaft play is normal as long as its not hitting the bore. my turbos have around 1mm up n down movement and work perfect at 17psi boost all day every day for the last year, also while u have turbos off try get hand on one of kurts dump pipes helps turbo keep bit cooler and add a ton of power. a quick search on here will help ya find more info on the dumps but my cars mid range gained a heap from them. also welcome =)

Thanks for the welcome Will the scuff marks be quite obvious and so some movement up & down is actually normal and back and forward isnt good? I honestly don't have a huge amount of knowledge on turbos still learning. And where would I find these Kurts dump pipes? Ae they on here or online somewhere? Do they create more flow compared to the originals or something?

the shafts float on oil so when there is no oil pressure they allow movement up and down and side to side, and yes the scuff marks will be very obvious some end float is ok but the less there the better and yes end float is in and out movement. kurt is a member on these forums he make the dump pipes and sells them and dose a very good job of it u need to get in contact with him. which u should be able to do by finding his thread about his dumps, they flow a lot more then factory pipes they are much larger pipes and removes one the biggest restrictions on a tt soarer. his name is Kurt Atzmuller he is also on Facebook. he has a few before and after dyno charts and he also make intakes, but they are easy enoth to do any time if doing turbos ild highly recommend the dump pipe beign upgraded simply cause if u want to do it later down the track its a lot of work taking the turbos back off

Ok excellent thanks for the info I will get a hold of him and see what he says I'm with you on that one it would be easier to do it now I'd rather not pull them off again.
