Hello everyone, I'm a recently cherry popped soarer owner, I have a 1jzgte 93 sc400, nothing done to it yet but will be firing questions away very shortly for upcoming mods

Hey Scott Cool, well here you go. I got a pair of 18's a while ago and they made me UZZ31 way camber sensitive. Bloody thing tried to drive off the road. So then I got some nice Lexus 17's, a bit less drive off in another direction but still doing it. Now I'm back to Supra stock 16's and the car behaves it's self. So was this an offset issue? how do you measure it? how do you fix it? Welcome to Soarer land. Bloody fantastic cars. I love mine. Jack.

Sounds like mis-alignment to me Jack, I currently have 18" rims on my soarer and it drives beautifully. Having said that, my last wheel alignment was with a suspension specialist in Tasmania called "Flemings". I certainly do not recommend getting wheel alignments at most common tyre shops as the first hand experience I have had with them is 99% bad, most employees are not qualified mechanics and do not posses the knowledge required to carry out a proper wheel alignment

Its true what Casey said, a lot of tyre places use younger lads with minimal to no training. I've also seen wheel alignment equipment wobble to the point it's unusable. But they still use it anyway.
And welcome Scott. Tazzie is a fantastic place, grate food, grate people and perfect roads.

I cant imagine offset being the cause to this problem as most after market rims tend to suit a wide variety of cars. Try going to a local tyre shop and asking for some hub locating rings for the 18" wheels. If these rings arent fitted then the weight of the car is no longer supported by the hub and is supported by the wheel studs

So how do you measure offset? What should a stock Uzz31 be? Do you put rings in between wheel and hub to adjust it? I feel like that book, Wheels and Tyres for Dummies? J

The rings fit in between the wheel and hub mounting ring on the hub face, these rings how ever do not adjust the offset. I agree Peter, I was just saying most after market rims like to be able to fit a wide variety of cars therefore offset tends to follow stock wheels closely at 40+
