I have just purchased a 1995 black on black V8 that has been converted back to conventional suspension with 149,000k on the clock. I t is very nice drive and with the wheels the previous owner fitted looks great. My son in law is a mechanic and we have a couple of small issues that we need to sort out which I am hoping someone with more knowledge may be able to help me with. The first is a constantly running brake accumulator which we presume is a damaged bladder. The brake warning comes up when you drive but not the ABS light which is only there at start up. I saw a thread with information on two sites where accumulators can be purchased from overseas. Could someone please advise if we are on the right track and if the parts suggested in the thread are the right ones for my model as I am not sure if the brake parts are the same on all years and models? The second issue which is less important is the CD player jumping over bumps and what can be done about it. I read in one of your articles that the CD players cannot be changed for after market units as the wiring is different, is the correct for my model? Peter

Peter, yes you are on the right track with the accumulator , there is no bladder like jags etc its just lost some of its gas over the years ,members on here have had them re-gassed with some success ,i myself replaced it.
you need to state if you have an EMV screen for info on CD

Dave Where abouts did you purchase your new accumulator from, I read in one of the threads that there was a Toyota parts supplier in Melbourne for around $450 and someone else suggested a company called Amayama Trading which sources the parts from a couple of different overseas location a bit cheaper. The part number they quoted on was Toyota 4795024020. Does this sound right to you. Thanks for you help so far. As soon as I can work out how to attach them I will post photo's. Peter

Thanks Dave I spoke to CMI Toyota in Adelaide as mentioned in one of the threads and they said there was one in Sydney however the wanted over $800 for it which seemed a bit extreme so I will keep looking. At least I now know from your invoice that it is the right part I am chasing. Could you please explain how to upload photo's to the site as I cannot see any obvious way (showing my age). Peter
There are also 2 orings required. You also need a strong 3 fingered oil filter removal tool. Bleed the brake pressure by pumping the brakes before you unscrew it.

Dave looks like the cheapest price for accumulator in Australia is around $700 at present so it looks like overseas is looking very attractive. Another dumb starters question if you don't mind. My insurance company wants to know if the standard Soarer remote looking incorporates a passive immobiliser that cuts power to the fuel pump, starter motor and ignition? If it doesn't I have to fit one otherwise no theft insurance. Peter

No immobilizer fitted in Japan , don't have the same problem with stealing cars , but something would have been fitted to sell it here . Give Castle hill a call and tell them you are a SC member . Also get a quote off Shannons mine is so cheap ,but i am a bit older than you

Dave Thanks for contact at W.A, Castle Hill will give them try. Insurance price was good at just over $500 on $8500 agreed value with Prestige Motor Vehicle Insurance through our brokers, they just seen to be very picky about details. According to brokers any new policies are going to ask for a lot more details than they used to. As to age I am 57 so I am not sure how many older Soarer drivers there out there than me. Maybe we are all older and have come to appreciate the good things in life like undervalued classic cars. I am a boat designer and builder and so have been fascinated by the unusual way that the Soarers design came about. Everyone I have show the car to has been stunned by it's value for money and performance. Peter

No flashers just camera unfortunately, the car has all options that I know of except sunroof, reversing camera and stalk on left front bumper. Suspension had just been changed over to Pedders ride and height adjustable, back brakes had just been done so with full rego and new tyres we got it on the road for $5,000. I have to get the accumulator sorted and have found a guy called Chris Rogers that will put a input from my phone into the sound system plus add the expanders to make the radio work better. We have just got a more open rear section for the exhaust system to make the sound a bit sweeter and hopefully with the altering of the air intake make a little bit more power. Everyone who sees or drives the car cannot believe how well they go and what good value for money they are. One of my employees who is a muscle car fan with a 67 Galaxy was so impressed he is after one for himself. Peter

yes, the plug is above the lhs wheel well in th eboot. . white from memory. Buy a <$20 ntsc camera and wire to the plug. comes on emv screen when reverse is selected. I mounted my number plate on a pce of aluminum and mounted the camera on the aluminim. Put the wires thru the number plate light hole

Peter you would be best to just swap TV tuner (under back seat for a digital one of ebay then you would have digital TV ,phone input,USB storage ,dab+ radio, etc .

Dave does using the digital tv input stop you fitting the expanders to make the non digital FM signal better? Do you have any experience on how much better the car stops if fitted with the larger TT front brakes? Peter

You can still fit expanders for FM ,but i got fed up with the quality , so i bought a DAB+ tuner and plugged it into the dig TV , 40 odd stations CD quality tight base ,no clicks, fades ,never listen to FM now. Nice thing about the dig TV tuner is USB , loads of films + songs Cant say i have really noticed the stopping difference ,but it would have to be better ,
