Hi Everyone, My name is Kate. I have a 1986 (I think) 3.0 GT Limited AIr Suspension Soarer that I'm looking to sell, but I'm confused as to what it's worth. I understand that it is a rare car? The Model number is: E-MZ21-HCPZZ, Engine: 7M-GTEU. It has 51k on the odo. It's a pearl white colour. The interior is quite worn. Has no TV in capsule area? The sunroof works, but the windows won't open. The Limited Edition 3.0 GT Badge on the rear bumper is missing (2 on the sides are there). Other than that, it runs great. Any information I can get on an estimate price for sale would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Here are some pics. The interior is worn from sun damage I think, leather is cracked on seats and back head rests (no fun was had unfortunately lol). Also, the interior door panels (which is some sort of felt material) are bubbled from the sun. The 3.0 GT Limited badge was knocked off by my brother when he was lawn mowing. He also clipped the side panel under passenger door, only a very minor scratch (see pic). Took it to my mechanic and is running fine, although the battery is now flat. Bought the car 10 years ago, and it has done approx. 100 kms since we got it, if that.

Hi Kate.
That's a cool looking MZ21 you got there, pity it needs some work done and your selling it.
Pricing on z20's Varies a lot depending on condition and who's buying it, clean z20's are almost impossible to find and are very valueable to some buyers.
Would need to see pictures of the interior. MZ21 interiors deteriorate the worst with sun exposure.
It depends also who you are selling it to. The z20 market is divided into 2 people. 1 - Is the Hipster group 2 - Is the Enthusiasts.
If it's in rough condition and has things missing, probably $3000.

Thanks Boris. Had a serendipitous experience on Saturday night. Was walking home from a local restaurant and a 1986 MZ21 drives past! I said, "is that my car?" (had a few Sangrias). The guy pulled over and we started talking. He was really helpful and knew a lot. His was a Series 1, apparently mine is a series 2. He drove me home and checked out the Soarer. He also mentioned the different groups of people interested in Soarers! Anyway, he seems to think that I should put it on car sales for around $6000 ONO. He knew what he was talking about, looked under the hood and basically talked me through everything that's right, and what needs repairing. And he confirmed the sun damage too. His opinion was to hang on to the car and fix it up, but I need a car desperately for Uni, and i think it should go to a Soarer lover who can give it the care it deserves. Here are some pics of interior.

That's a pretty cool experience, and yes all the things he said are correct so it's definitely not the Sangrias.
Yes yours is a Series two, the main visual differences are the climate control unit, steering wheel, front grille and tail lights.
The best thing if you want to fix it up for the interior is to swap it to a Velour cream interior from another Soarer, because finding a good condition leather interior is almost impossible, and once again finding a complete good velour interior is also hard, you can probably get it from Japan. If you are keen, it could turn out to be a fun project to restore in your spare time.
It really looks like with some things swapped over, you could have yourself a nice Soarer.
You can either put a factory Screen in, which does not have much functions as most of it is in Japanese. Believe it or not your car has GPS and TV From the Factory. They come with a big box the size of a computer in the boot that controls that screen, chances are it's gone now.
You can fill that space with either a modern Screen, but one that fits nicely instead of sticking out, or much simpler just a head unit and a pocket below it.
