Ha yeah, bit of a difference and a welcome change from my 84 Toyota celica. Im in the Northern territory so just may be a few kangas on the look out for me. Definitely want to reprogram my ECU and maybe play around with some car audio but apart for that love to keep it original as andy. Dont think there are too many soarer meeting clubs up here so my correspondence is all i have to offer unfortunately Anyway, never met a bunch of people more committed to there cars and for good reason too. For now happy motoring.

You're damned right on that Rick...not many other clubs as diverse and friendly as ours!
Nice lookin' car you got there Rick! Just read the common faults and modifications page that Daniel posted, and that should keep you occupied for a while.

Is this a completely stupid question. Should I ever put anything other than premium unleaded into my soarer? Was told something about high octane fuel betters fuel consumption and will avoid possible future problems from occuring???

Peter - not more power in the fuel, normally less energy than a lower octane fuel. BUT, the higher octane resists pre-detonation better, it allows the engine to run more timing advance, which is where the added power comes from. Also not necessarily cleaner either.
Premium is always best for high compression engines like the V8 soarer, or for forced unduction cars, as both of these aspects increases the temperature of the combustion chamber. It can get hot enough to ignite without the spark plug firing(pinging - which is bad), the higher octane fuels help prevent this.

I had Mighty Joe Young sold for $10,000 but pressure from another buyer forced it up to $10,500. The $1,100 shipping costs wasn't too great either , but oh well I got my dream car for now I'll save later VRROOOMMMMMMMMMMMMM!

Chris, you would have done better to create your own thread rather than tacking on to the end of this one. Some of the slower guys here thought this was an entirely new thread even though it is over a year old, hence they were all talking to/about "Rick" and your post then got a bit lost in the "noise" (which I have deleted).
