Hi guys,
Been on the forum for a couple years, mainly researching etc but thought it was about time I introduced myself.

I'm Ricky from the western suburbs (deer park) in Melbourne and this is my Soarer that I bought just over a year ago :-)
She's a pearl white GTT-L, with cream/poo brown interior. No leather, No traction control. EXACTLY what I was looking for.

Had a look at about 5 soarer's and nothing was on the market in good enough condition, then my mate told me he saw it on firesport from a guy living near highpoint so I decided to take a look.
She was a bit rough around the edges when I got her with a stuffed bumper but she is fairly straight and no faded/peeling paint.
Hopefully it will only get cleaner in time :-)

This is what she looked like when I got it. Just click on the thumbnail for bigger pics.

Mod list....

-2.5" to 3" Dumps
-3" to twin 2.5" Sard catback

Thanks peter :-) Trying to slowly get her looking cleaner, might start ripping the seats and carpet out and giving it a good steam clean within the next couple months.

I've got some other mods I need to do before a lip, When I'm looking I might give you a message.

Thanks Rhys.

Well not much progress lately, just little things due to lack of cash.

Decided to clean my floor mats (hydrogen peroxide + scrubbing + washing machine) which didn't turn out too bad but not amazing. I think they're too far gone and I may need to invest in new floor mats or dye these black.
Left is before, right is after.

Finally adjusted the cam gear to -6, I must admit the car seems to go well. Only way to find out will be to take it to the track.

I also now have heater screen that isn't bleeding. It's amazing how a little thing like a screen can completely change the feel of the interior. Feels more "complete" now.

Thanks Justin.

A MV 1.5 is on the cards eventually but it will have to wait till I get a torsen or 2 way unfortunately :-(

Will be pretty sweet though.
As for widebands I've already decided to go with the Zeitronix Hacker/Tweaker, when I can figure out somewhere stealth to mount it.

Maybe buy a spare dash and see if its possible to throw it there, maybe.

Well I got a little bored today and decided to throw in some rear subframe inserts that I had sitting around (if that's what they're called).

Still has the stock bushing but fills the voids so I'll see how this goes tonight :-)

Oh it makes a massive difference, I can't wait to rip my whole interior apart and steam clean it.

Then spray the whole car in glen20 (I don't know why, but I love the smell)

Little update:
Recapped my ECU, Honestly not much of a difference but I did notice one of the caps was leaking very slightly and 1 was pretty swelled.

Idles nicer and sits around 680-700rpm at idle, it used to idle as low as 480 at times.

That being said, I didn't do it because it needed to be done, I did it for peace of mind knowing its been done.

Easy job, took about an hour taking care and cost about $10 in parts from RS

Update. Click on the thumbnails for bigger pics.

So a couple things have happened since my last update. Nothing crazy.

First thing, decided to get rid of the old HKS cooler that had a bunch of leaks and decided to put on the plazmaman 600x300x76 I had laying around.
That all went well but on the way I decided I wanted to give my engine bay a quick clean since I haven't cleaned it properly while in the time I've had the car.
Before and after.

While doing that i decided "Stuff it, I might as well clean out my power steering reservoir, like this thread.
http://www.supraforums.com.au/forum/topic/76814-power-steering-reservoir-just-a-trick/
Which now looks like this.

Since I done that and also needed clearance for the intercooler I decided to throw out the spaghetti in the passenger gaurd and put a bigger power steering cooler there.
Also decided to throw an even bigger trans cooler I had sitting around and do a full trans flush with dex III. This is a comparison to a 600x300 intercooler.

So I made brackets, everything got mounted up. BEAUTIFUL!
Engine bay currently looks like this but please try to ignore the terrible intake, its something I threw together in a hurry to go to the drags.

So I took the car out, felt pretty decent, then this happened.

So I found a replacement but I could only get a v8 diff with such short notice, I didn't care because it was cheap, good condition and I only had 3 days till the drags.

When replacing the diff I found my mufflers were absolutely stuffed, So I changed them with some cannons off an exhaust I bought a while ago.

Old mufflers

SO got that fixed on the friday then hit the drags on friday night.

My two best runs of the night, pity the 60ft wasn't working on lane 2 :-( I usually run 1.1bar on the street, but for some reason the car wasn't boosting past 1bar.

And lastly, the much needed picture of the car in line while waiting for a run.

tl;dr???
- Cleaned engine bay + moved some stuff.
- Cleaned power steering reservoir internals.
- Put in bigger trans and p/s coolers.
- Flushed trans.
- Installed new 600x300x76 intercooler.
- Installed v8 diff (3.9 gears instead of 4.08)
- Went to calder and ran a 13.1@105 on 1bar.

Where from here?
- Remove the kit and leave it "stock body",
- Change front guard (reason I'm removing the kit)
- Get an LSD and hopefully do a 12.9 (I hope)

Nice work, I always like seeing what others are up to. Shame you couldn't pick up a tt diff in time. The v8 one has different ratios, from memory they're slightly longer ones, so not as snappy in acceleration yeah?

A trans oil cooler is always a good thing. I'm using a twin turbo as a daily and plan to put one on soon. It's already got an MV shift kit, so the trans cooler should go a little way to helping the longevity of the gearbox. The car also has kurts intakes on it, I just need a set of his hotpipes to complete it.

Thanks James.
I would have preferred a TT diff but as you mentioned the v8 gears are a 3.9 instead of a 4.08.
It actually wasn't that much of a difference to be honest, car drives pretty much the same but the speedo says I'm doing 98 when the GPS says I'm doing 100, no biggy.

Agree on the trans cooler, had one on every car I've owned. My car really does need a torsen and a shiftkit though :-)

Sounds like a pretty sweet daily, I can't wait till I can do hot pipes and intakes on this.

I'd have to say no, the difference between the 2 isn't as big as I thought it would be.

At the drags, I couldn't launch with more than .2 bar since its a single pegger and would spin whether it was V8 or the TT diff.

If I give it on the streets, the car still loses traction when I come on boost in 1st gear, about the same point as it was.
So the diff change may be more noticeable when on the track with slicks and a torsen but for a single I'd say its about the same.

Sorry I don't get what you mean scott?

Pretty much my summary is, if you have a single spinner, you wont notice a difference,

This is a guess, but you "may" notice a difference with putting in a V8 torsen, because it will actually grip instead of spinning, so you might notice the longer gears. Might.

Correct Scott, diff ratio for the TT is the same whether its a single or torsen.

Thanks Steven, its a pain about the diff, I didn't know how weak the single diffs were until I broke mine and started doing more research.

So minor update.

So it really annoyed me that my auto headlight never worked properly because who ever installed the HID's done it straight to the headlight wires instead of using a relay (chopped off the factory plugs and used spade terminals to connect the wires).

So, I wired in new plugs, got a plug and play loom and put in a relay/fuse in there and hid it all behind the front bumper :-)
Couple pictures of the ballast location as well.

I then decided to finally give the interior a proper clean, used a little steam cleaner I bought a while ago, it takes ages but after you see the results, its worth it.
You can see the before and after on the centre console lid, you always think your car is fairly clean until you properly clean it :-)

Not much progress here.

I did however buy a Torsen for a very cheap price, saw it for $300 on facebook and thought, stuff it. why not?

Turns out it has no noises but has 3.9 gears from a v8.

Works out fine for me :-) the grip and how the car handles is amazing in comparison, best bargain mod so far.

Also here is a random picture I also found on facebook from cars and coffee. Think I need some spacers :-)

Update...

- Was getting major breakdown on higher boost, So I pulled out my coils, hit them with some 280 grit sand paper, mixed up some JB Weld and painted it on with a brush and then once they were dry, I used heat shrink over the top.
No more spark break down and car feels stronger in the mid range.

I'd like to eventually go 1NZ coils, but until I can get a 100% answer on how to get it working with the stock ecu + tacho, I'll stick to these :-)

- So I finally got around to flushing my coolant system to the point where it flowed clear water then installed my alloy radiator, new radiator hoses and filled it up with toyota red :-)

Feels nice everything being new and clean.
Just an FYI, the radiators you can buy from ebay fit well and only need your plastic battery tray to be slightly trimmed because the radiator is thicker than the stock one :-), that is if you like your battery secured.

- Then tax money came in so I got a MV 1.5 shiftkit, this has by far been the funnest and most worth while mod I have done, anything over 1/2 throttle with a gear change into 2nd = wheel spin but I feel this will really shine on the track :-)

- Installed supplement bushes for the front diff and front subframe bushes.

- Changed my exhaust cam gear to negative 6, top end feels nicer but I guess I'll find out when I go to calder on the 18th, Lets hope the MPH is higher

- Then I got defected for being too low, raised the coilovers, got it cleared and the same night I dropped it again. Can't deal with a high ride height.
It also gave me a chance to fix the preload and make sure everything was perfect, so I guess that's a good thing.

So that is where I'm at at the moment.
I want to go to calder on the 18th of this month and see if I can get my 12.9 then focus on making her look cleaner :-)

Also waiting to put in a rear subframe mount that I modified (Filled the empty sections with steel plate and sikaflex 225, just waiting for it to set and I'll put them in :-)

AND by the end of the year I'll be buying an emanage ultimate with a t13 plug and play loom.

So as you can tell by the wall of text, I'm excited :-)

Update for the day.

- Installed my modified rear subframe bushes, no sikaflex, just used steel bar in between the gaps to stop movement.
(This is temporary until I buy marks engineering solid subframe mounts)

- Whiteline steering rack bushes
- Steering rack spacers
- Wheel alignment

The car handles great now, I pulled the front camber down to 1.5 degree's and currently running 5 degrees of castor which feel great on a street car.

The rear I've kept at 1.2 degrees and 2.5mm toe in. Feels nice and solid so far :-)
