Im a BF Typhoon owner. We used to have a soarer V8 and I liked it. I want another soarer. Some people are telling me to get the 1JZGTE. I havent driven the Turbo yet, can someone give me an idea of what they are like power-wise, and what the driving experience is like - especially compared to the V8?

Hi Brett!
It's a very good question.
For me I've always liked NA engines linear power.
I've driven a few TTs and they always feel lacking down low especially in a higher gear, so you put your foot down a bit more and before you know it you're going too fast
Maybe it's something to get used to I suppose.
I run a V8 Soarer and 3L 2JZ non turbo Soarer, both are great.
The 2JZ 3.0L non turbo is definitely a peak power engine, I need rev it past 4000rpm to really get going, but it's no rocket with 1600kgs to haul around in a JZZ31.
I felt this is characteristic of the JZ motors is emphasized further with the 1JZGTE 2.5 TT motor being smaller in capacity, noticeable especially off boost, but of course you do go MUCH faster than the NA 3.0L once the turbos get up to speed.
The best bet might be a VVTI 2.5L Single turbo, they are quite a balanced engine hitting peak torque of 380nm at 2400rpm, more torque than the 1UZ!
