purchased this car a couple of months ago but havent had a chance to do anything with it aside from clean the boot out which had what seems like a few full boxes of assorted screws and nails spilled all over it/into every crevice and a few other random bits of crap.

its my first japanese car and my first rwd car so im hoping i dont stack it the first time i try to drive it haha

its a 1991 v8 limited in emerald green (at least i think it is... its the one that looks dark green but also looks blue and sometimes black depending on the light/your camera)

its got pretty low mileage at under 100km on the clock (if its genuine) interior is in really good condition though i am missing the drivers side floor mat :-(

engine runs sweet as a nut

exterior is great aside from a bit of front crash damage

it has half decent, brand new alloy wheels with brand new tyres on it

annnd It only cost me £600 quid and was local so i snapped it up as soon as it went up for sale (i think the gumtree ad was an hour old)

i did, however, make several mistakes when viewing/purchasing:

I fell for the low price and didnt view any others
went to look at it when it was almost dark
saw it running but not moving/didnt test drive it (it was in the back of a compound, blocked in with no tax or mot)
didnt test any of the electrics

all in all, very foolish but i fell in love with it

the cost of my mistakes are as follows...

i need to replace the throttle position sensor (at least that's what the diagnostic check has suggested)

the symptoms of the problem are as follows:
engine runs fine but doesnt like to rev quickly/aggressively. it sort of bogs down if I put my foot down hard but will rev normally if i put my foot down slowly

also when i drove it onto my drive it didnt seem to have any real power and the gear display on the dash was flickering between 1st and 2nd gear. (reverse works fine though and theres no horrible noises)

i also hadnt realised that the guy i bought it from had removed the battery and all but 2 wheel nuts on each wheel for some reason :/ (guessing thats why he drove away pretty quickly after dropping it off for me on his low loader)

the tems switch on the gear surround seems to be seized

and im getting the "alternator not charging" message/bonging sound on the dash. (though that may be down to the battery that I put on it being shagged and me not tightening the terminals on)

one of the previous owners has also replaced the original airbox with some sort of ebay special canister air box and what is, essentially, tumble dryer ducting...

thankfully the hpi check was clear at least.

so yeah... thats my soarer...
im hoping i can fix it up and get it running without spending too much on it.
probably just going to get it running before i fix anything else on it just incase it's more broken than I think.

aside from doing that, I dont really have any big modification plans for it but I'm sure that will change fairly soon

It obviously needs a new wing, headlight (got those) and bumper so I'll probably get a body kit instead of buying a stock bumper.

Anyway...

cheers for looking.

Rich, I hope it works out OK for you.

I understand the love rush when you first saw it, hopefully at that price you will still get value after doing the fixes.
