Hey ppl, Finally after months of searching I'm about to buy a soarer! For years while I owned an evil Nissan, i had been popping in and out of the old ALSC forums having a squiz here and there and considering buying one. A big Zoom mag fan for years, i enjoyed the many soarers presented throughout the years, speshly the manual one (yes, THAT one) and am pleased to finally decide to own one! Now i just have to find the right one! Anyway, the classifieds have provided a multitude of good offerings and the time is now. At the moment I have a 300SEL Benz, awaiting a 2jz transplant (1610kgs with benz motor also a steel block, alloy head) which i was originally going to fit out with a front sump 1jz-vvti, but decided i needed the extra torque available down low from the 2jz. What i wouldn't give for a 1.5JZ!!

Here's a pic of the benz, It has 17" AMG's, H&R springs, not much else. The paint is factory, just lots of clay bar and tech wax! The front end is getting sorted this friday, new upper and lower bushes, crossmember bush (friggin steering boxed leaked onto it, the bushing blew up like a swollen you know what, and now it rattles on sweeping right handers!) and the front will be coming down also. The plates will suit much better when the 2jz goes in!

Well, hoping to avoid the pimping part! You know, no bling etc. they are only 17" mags, the 18's make it far to harsh. Mainly bottom end torque is the aim, and I know I could throw in an LS2 or one of those L76's that Holden is using, but I want reliability!! Mostly though, I cant wait for my soarer! Theres not many up here in Darwin, and the ones that are here are rather poorly maintained. Im not sure how far I will go with it in terms of output, but from reading the topics, it looks like 270-300rwkw is the most Ill be wanting for streetable power, and even then I think it will not be as nice at the higher end, but, these are the lessons to be learn-ed for me! Now, wheres that money I stashed away.....

Just a thought, ask Neil if he can find you a nice one, then fly down for the National Soarer Bash at Neil's place at Easter and then drive it back.

| David, I concur with the "Farrago" comment. “a farrago of excuses and obfuscation”, “a farrago of deceit and lies”, or “a rambling farrago of half-digested knowledge”, that it has become one of those all-purpose dismissive words.
