Hi all, I have been reading throught this forum over the past days or two as I a thinking about buying a Soarer. The only thing that worries me is the cost of repairs for faults. Neil Griffiths has said he will look at any vehicle I am iterested in so that makes me feel a bit more at ease. Anyway, until I do find one, I hope you guys dont mind having a hybrid in here.
Hybrid I hear you say??? surname is Buick and I own a Ford (at the moment) and I married a Ford also!

Gary, I created a new thread for you :-)

If you get a good one, repair costs won't be too bad at all. Parts are readily available and because there is so much info about Soarers here, labour costs aren't through the roof.

Plus you have the added bonus of having Neil to both check the car and do work on it as needed. I can't stress how lucky you are having Neil available to you, so look after him, he is worth his weight in chocolate!

Thanks Peter, I realised after I clicked on the post button that it was in the wrong place.

Chocolate hey, I will remember that.

I am looking at one in Canberra, it's a '32 model with 144k. I checked inside the rocker cover as told by Neil and it was rather dirty but I cant say if it was sludge. Neil has said he will look at it before I part with any money. The interior is a bit tired in spots i.e. drivers seat (the back part) and the part of the RH door where the window switches are is all cracked. Anyway, only time will tell, cant buy this until I get rid of my old Ford.

Hi all again. I know its not Soarer but here is my old XW Fairmont I have had for 16yrs. Its a 302W, C4 auto with air cond (a real nice drive, or so I thought until I took a Soarer for a drive) I also have attached a picture of the Soarer I am looking at.

Wow, i grew up in an XW, same windsor and C4 trans too! My old man had it since when i was born till almost the nineties! I remember he sold it after I told him I could see the road going past underneath the passenger footwell....

Good luck with your new soarer, Im in the same boat too.

Gary. From one of the resident "Sheep Shaggers".

VERY nice XW you've got there, and it's probably worth a MINT, to the right person..............FFS, DON'T sell it too cheap, those things are worth GOLD!

Cheers Mate

Tim, yes it is, it's a 31 not 32. Need a bit of TLC and if I can sell mine for the right price I will be able to give it some.
Thanks Don, hoping for around the $11k mark. Not to much for a vehicle in this condition I think.

Gary, I found out about another one today.
UZZ30 with no EMV screen or air suspension.
Probably be cheaper to maintain but the asking price is a little more...and worth it.
Flawless gold paint with new wheels/tyres.

Oh, and the one you were looking at was a UZZ31 Limited airbag car.

Very nice Falcan you have there Gary. As stated, worth a good quid these days for one that tidy.
Still, not a patch on a good Soarer.
Oh, and welcome.

Strangely Gary, a mint XW (Like I perseve yours to be, would attract an ASKING price of $15k(NZD), with an expected SELL price of $13k(NZD).

VERY good luck with the sale, AND IF you have the original wheels to go with it,.............a HAPPY outcome, WILL be yours!.

Cheers mate

Aw, I have such a soft spot for classic Fords... and that one looks so clean... If you've looked after it so well for 16 years Gary, you'll be an asset to the Soarer community...

Thanks for all the comments about "henry". Yes, I do look after my vehicles, only reason I am getting rid of this is time for a change. I just hope it goes to a good home. Cant wait to sell it then I can really start getting excited about a Soarer

G'day Gary!!! Welcome to another Canberran. If you manage to find a soarer that's in as perfect condition as your Ford looks to be, you'll be chearin. Good luck mate.
Anyway, we only have to travel about 20kms to Neil's if something goes sideways.

Hi all, well it isn't looking to good at the moment. Niall checked over the vehicle (thanks heaps Niall) and it needs about $3K worth of work. Seems the owner may be changing his mind, oh well, gives me more time to get rid of "henry"
