Hi everybody I am Jonathan, I am new and have just brought my first sc400 lexus ... Love the car but the ride is a bit mushy, will have to sort it out. The car is in good nic .... 97,000km on the clock, with all the bits and bobs for only $8000nzd ... a lot of car for the money.

Jonathan, welcome to the ranks. As you are over 40 I would have thought "mushy" would relate to comfortable. Can you simply press a button to change that? (the suspension setting I mean) Cheers, Mike B.
Thank Mike, but being the age you are, don't you think you are trying a bit hard, (flashy car, for a teenager) I actually think there is a problem with the air bags and we all know that these cars were designed for the lard arse americans so I might take them out and replace them with a good set of shocks.

Jonathan have you tried the button that says TEMS normal / sport switching it to sport stiffens up the suspension. i never have mine on normal. My car also sits lower than yours. i find the lower the ride height, the better feel i get form the bags.
dont replace them with springs unless the airbags are lekaing and wont hold their height. could it be the suspensin bushes that are making the ride feel mushy?

Welcome Jonathan. I think you'll find that age is immaterial when it comes to ownership of these fine cars. We have 20 somethings that love the V8's, and we have 50 somethings that love their TT's. Not for the perceived image they portray, but for the love of the cars themselves
The UZZ31's were never made for the American market, as ALL the US SC300/400's were coil sprung. As many members have found the handling and ride of a UZZ31 with fresh air-struts is the equal of any Soarer bar the UZZ32 Active models.

As Avin says, don't change your suspension for something non-adjustable even if you just use it to clear that driveway or road hump, it's better than springs. BTW I don't get to choose what is put up with my name, it denotes how much a person uses the site. (Try hard) From (Newbie) right up to (Moderator) Looks like you have done well with your purchase and all the help you need will be available here at this site. Mike B.
Thanks guy's for the advice ... how can you tell which model is which (UZZ31 or UZZ32) My car has the TEMS button and the one beside it disconnected ... it has a module like a radar detector sitting under the dash and just to the left of the steering column, which has an adjuster for both front and rear hight ... hence I thought it maybe after-market air bags
