I think you can also plum back a aftermarket BOV so it doesnt have the sound but then there is no real reason to get an aftermarket BOV There is nothing better than hitting 100 in 6 seconds and then letting of the throttle (for an auto car that is) and your car sneezes.

If you just want to be able to hear the wanky noise inside the car, i have actually found that with an aluminium pod filter i can hear all the induction noise back through the intake from the drivers seat, including all the bits and pieces that make sounds.
This includes the stock bov going "tsk tsk tsk tsk tsk" when i come off boost slowly but still enough for the bov to release.

Got the same set up Callum, got the GFB Stealth FX BOV just in front of the drivers side. I can't seem to get the settings just right though, (more so that spring pressure valve...is that the right term?). Anyway, go to the GFB website and you can hear the standard and whistling trumpet as heard on a Rex. It has been recorded from inside/outside the car and also in neutral. I have tested both of them and for the life of me can't hear the difference, but I ended up choosing the whistling one.

Pfft Callum, you have a BOV yourself you damn hypocrite!!
I only use my BOV to get back at those little faggy Civic drivers with a super super loud exhaust that want to rev it up everytime they are near you. I've seen people just shrink back into their seats after they realise they have NOTHING on the Soarer.
I know, I know. Immature but I get some kicks out of it

show off valves are sssaaarrrrccchhh bloody simple devices; boost in both ends and holes in the middle. cleaning the one you got is a good idea. finding a replacement spring wouldn't be much harder if it really does need replacing...
