Also a shift kit. This sort of power will eat a stock transmission in a few months. I know lots on here can vouch for that.

Daniel - I bought my 440's off Manny about a year ago for $300. They've been in the car and running fine since. Lemme find out what the going rate is on them secondhand, and I'll get back to you. They wont be available until after the 19th Oct.

That's ok, I can wait that long. Only drive on the weekends nowadays anyway.

Shane Ilich wrote on Friday, September 29, 2006 - 04:50 pm:

Fuel pump - no, dont wait a bit. Just do it now, and know that you're not putting your current, 15 year old one under any extra stress, and know that your new one with a much higher flow-rate is sufficiently feeding the bigger injectors.

I will change it eventually, I would just wait till next month, as I get paid monthly you see. I wouldn't drive it everyday anyway

Shane Ilich wrote on Friday, September 29, 2006 - 04:50 pm:

Also, your costing doesnt involve all the little things, like oil return lines, water lines, gaskets, new seals, water pump, etc. And a boost controller. Plus labour - ie getting the old turbos off.

Gasket and new seals under the little things thingy. I'd get a cheap manual boost controller off my cuz perhaps. Why do I need a new water pump though??? Labour will be done by me with some help from my cuz (I'd have to ask him nicely hehe) but yeah, good thing to learn about the car doing it yourself. Yep, oil return lines and that I haven't accounted for yet grrrr.

$450 for a stage 1.5 shift kit from MV Automatics.

Forgot your car was basically stock Daniel.
You've got a LOT of modifications to do before it all works well together.
Having said that, the single turbo conversion is probably the most expensive.

I dont honestly think you could do a Single turbo , intercooler, fuel system, aftermarket management to run it all, pipe work, gaskets, shift kit, tranny cooler, Manifolds,exhaust,air filter, Oil,Coolant,Transmission fluid, all filters + lots more... For anything Less than about $6,000. And that includes you doing at least half of the work.

I would expect something like this to balloon out to about $ 8,000 or more if you are paying for most of it to be done.

Oh yeah, I haven't added an exhaust to my estimates, or shift kit etc. grrrrr, bloody money pit! I honestly think what I wrote up there can be done, as long as I can do all the labour work myself. But then the extras that will be needed afterwards will add up to more. As long as I can hold off with the extras and drive it with what's listed up there for a couple of months till my spending is done in other areas, it should be fine. I'll have no problem spending another couple of grand then. I don't want to have a very powerful car at this stage. ANyway, thanks for your opinions, now I got some thinking to do

Ok, done some thinking and decided to buy steel wheeled CT12's instead... too much hassle with the single, and a potential $$$$ trap haha. I'm not after a 10 second car anyway, happy with my current 14, or maybe 13.5 in the future that's all. Thanks for all your input (warnings) guys, I appreciate it

Daniel;
Mate have a look at Trents thread above ;
all he has is steel wheels, 14psi, exhaust,dumps,front mount and a pod
Not bad going for starting out with a stock car a couple of months back.
we just have to do a few more mods to get some more air in then we can boost it slightly.
then the other options start .
injectors, piggy back, etc.
it should be a good 260-270 kw car when finished.
with out going internally.

Yeah, I'd be happy with that. I might look at the exhaust side of things next, though now I'd be able to boost it safely, but with stock exhaust it will be very limited for now I presume... Hopefully the turbos get here by friday so I can take it apart and start putting them in this weekend. Should be fun, I'll buy a lot of hand cream
