Hey guys, now I'm on the market for a bov to replace my old blitz one. Basically I need one that can hold up to 18 pounds of boost, as that is going to be my max when I am getting my car tuned. I'm not too sure on this, is there anyone out there running that much boost with an aftermarket bov?

Hope you dont mind me adding another question here. Can the stock BOV leak whilst running 15-16psi? WOuld it make an audible noise?

There are heaps out there running over 20 psi. A bov shouldnt be a big issue as good ones can handel over 65 psi. You might have to throw a couple of hundred to get a trusted brand name though.

Stock BOV should easily handle 15-16psi. Justin, go for a trusted brand name like HKS or GReddy. Do a search on google for the websites and you may be able to gain some info there.

Daniel, I had mine on the dyno and it was leaking from anything above 16psi. I will tell you on MSN in more detail.

i paid around $400 for a turbosmart one... i doubt that would have any problems holding 18+ psi

I use a tial BOV. $250 odd. I run about 20psi and plan to run more. They look sexy as well. http://bburgess.gallery.netspace.net.au/albums/Single-Turbo-Conversion/P1000283_Custom.jpg

Robert, I was thinking about getting a stealth fx. It would be great to have a bov with 17 adjustable settings, hand adjustable too! Though from their website they are not cheap. Benjamin, what would you compare the sound it makes to?

Ask Aka what it sounds like, he heard it a bit on the recent sydney cruize. I'm not much of a bov sound aficionado.

My ones sounds like my car is sneezing. Unless you go for a sequential which sounds a little like a dose pipe/compression surge or whatever they call it.

I have pushed ~22psi through my system at a couple of stages. Stock bov and aftermarket blitz one both seemed to hold.

Ok, another question. On a soarer, where is the best place to install a blow off valve? I have heard things about pressure differences leaving the turbo and being reduced by a few pounds when it gets to the manifold?

| Most kits I've seen for the Soarer have a pipe that goes between the intercooler and the throttle. Here's a pic of my Blitz blow off valve on my old car (near the battery).

or if you want to hide it, the IC piping just behind the front bar on the drivers side also works.

Excuse me gentlemen, I have a silly question to ask. We know that after market blow off valves are illegal. What happens if we run 2 x blow off valves in our TT?. I mean, I keep the stock blow off valve in the original position, then install the after market blow off valve somewhere else, like hiding under it and welded to one of the intercooler pipes somewhere the police wpold find hard to see, so when the police check the blow off valve they will only see the stock one. Is it ok to run 2 blow off valves like that?

It can be done but defeats the purpose of why you need the BOV.

Sam, you could keep the stock BOV and block it off then install an aftermarket one in a hidden area (e.g. on the intercooler piping behind the front bar somewhere.)

Why i need the BOV? i don't understand your question, Because my car come with BOV or because Turbo car has BOV? is this the right answer? I am sorry, i don't know anything about the performance or engine's thing.

The blow off valve can be described as an "EMERGENCY BOOST RELEASE OMG DONT NEED ALL THAT AIR!" device. Basically, as you increase pressure through teh turbos more fuel is pumped in to the engine to keep things balanced. When you take your foot off the throttle you want to stop air and fuel going in to your engine. The fuel is easy enough, but those turbos are still spinning as the exhaust gets bumped out. The blow off valve opens and all the excess pressure is released. Im sure someone can explain it better than that. I know what i mean in _MY_ head =P The stock blow off valve is connected in to your intake (i think?), so when you hop off the throttle and the valve opens all the excess air is fed back in to your intake (or exhaust?), so you wont hear the wanky "PTSH!" Aftermarket blowoff valves are only for when you want to sound cool for the kiddies or if you are running more pressure than the stock blowoff valve can handle. Personally, i have one for the kiddies.
