Do 1Js have problems with leaking front seals as well? I've read a lot about that happening with 2Js and it seems to be related to excessive oil pressure. That alone has me considering going down to a xW30 oil. Might give the Fuchs 0W30 a try - Porsche and BMW approved so it might just be good enough for the mighty JZ.

Folks, like Neil says, 10w-30 IS the original oil spec for our Soarers, so why try to re-invent the wheel?.
I use 10w-40 Castrol "Magnatec" in my UZZ30, and have had NO problems whatsoever in 2 years of daily use.................If you wanna spend crap loads on the "Bling oil du Jour"........Go for it!.

I agree with Neil. I am a believer in the use of fully synthetic oil. I use it and my engine hits 7000 rpm quite often and is still in one piece ( touch wood )!

I have questioned a number of different mechanics in WA who have worked with many a Soarer over the years about the 'most appropriate' oil; flurries of different 'go fast' parts bolted on for fulli syk speeds.. The general theme seems to be to stick with the semi synthetic blends; but 'if you like fully synthetic use that'. I guess ultimately it doesnt matter if you are regular. If the car went through near 100% track day work i guess what oil would be more of a concern, however in that situation you would be more aware of how your car is running and the condition of the oil etc anyway.
Personally; Mobil1 full synthetic is put in mine and it usually comes out visually dirty every 5000kms. I'm happy with that and the price works for my budget so why change?
