Stockies I generally beat, once they've been tinkered with - different story. A mate has a Monaro (not a dunnydore, but not bloody far off) only changes are cam, diff and 2800 stally. Hasnt touched the exhaust or intake yet, even though he (live everybody else) knows that the standard system is absolute garbage. His current best et is 12.6. As soon as these motors have been de-holdenised they perform very well, engineering aside.

My parents just got a VE Statesman with a 6L 270kw motor. It's a SLUG! I know the Statesman is heavier than the SS, but pfft says Maurice. Every single commodore they bring out is more powerful, but also heavier. The VE is 20kw more than the VZ, but it's also 100kg heavier... Whats the point in that? |

Mate i ran a VZ HSV 6.0 LS2 and i absolutely blew him to pieces. I had a couple of my Holden fanatics mates in my car and they couldn't believe it. I told them not to underestimate a JZ once they are opened up with mild work.

You're comparing a modified soarer with a stock holden? with exhaust and cams and modified factory ecu it's a low 12s easy.

I beat an R32 with exhaust and boost and filter at WSID last week. He ran a 13.3 to my 13.0 on that run. He said his best time is a 13.1. My best is a 12.9. Dont be scared boys and girls.. Its ALL Different at the Track

Sounds about right. A while ago when I was at the drags there were a couple of R32-GTR's running no more than an exhaust and intake and we're getting consistent low 13's. Could just be the drivers ???? Maybe they dont know what AWD means ???

A GTR should be running 12s in most cases, no? Your Soarer is going to be needing to pump around 300rwhp to tackle that...

Just because a car SHOULD be running certain times, Doesnt mean it will. It all comes down to the driver. My mate owns an R33 GTR. The stock spec sheet he got with all the paper work says 1/4 Mile :- 14.0 @ 103mph. Most GTR's that have "Supposedly" run low 13's stock, have been iMported ones which normally have some sort of cat back exhaust + aftermaket Cat to pass new emmisions + a Filter of some sort. So the Low 13's AInt stock if you want to get technical about it. Im not saying there are no GTR's running 12's with basic mods, in fact i know quite a few, but it comes down to the drivers ability. Jeff Smith + Myself were talking at the drags about this on wednesday night at WSID. Its amazing how many guys are pushing SO much power at the wheels, but cant drive the times out of the cars. Even Jeff kinda said" Why spend all that money if its only going to run slow times with problems". My car only made 195rwkw(261rwhp) and i have pushed 7 12.9 passes out of it in the last 3 meets. All other passes are 13.0's and 13.1's depending on launch. I have no shift kit or LSD either.

One thing that kills GTR drag times that most people overlook is the condition of their transfer case. Normally not even thought about until the car turns itself into a full time RWD. These cost just over 2 grand to get reconditioned but make a huge difference to performance. Their factory 1/4 times are quoted at 13.0 but its very common for the aged examples to be pulling mid 14s, aside from general wear alot of the degradation can be attributed to the transfer case, they dont age well (hey its a nissan!). These vehicles were given supercar status for a reason, find one in good nick and you'll find a weapon.
