When its cold?

When it is really cold my idle can push the 2000rpm mark. Give the engine a chance to warm up and see what it idles at then. Try an ecu reset (use the search function). Failing that, adjust your idle speed at the throttle body.

1700rpm idle is normal now? Or did you mean when stone cold?

If the car is cold 1500-1600rpm is normal ish, but it should quickly drop down to 1000 then be at 700-800rpm's at normal operating temperatures.

Cheers, Maurice.

When the ambient temperature is 10 or below, I can get some pretty high idle speeds. They usually come back down to where they are meant to be within a few minutes though.

Just grab a hold of the belts to slow it down. Just kidding.

My TT would idle at about 1700rpm for about 5 secs then drop to about 1300rpm and stay there for another 30 sec on a cold morning.

The V8 is different again only sits on about 1400rpm for 5 secs then a steady 1000rpm for about 1 minute after that I think 700rpm in park.

1500RPM on cold start, drops rapidly to 1000rpm, drops slowly to 630RPM on mine. I'd like to find a way to make it idle at 700 though!
