First up ignore the dirt everywhere, that is what I am aiming to fix this weekend!
I got home from work today and popped the bonnet to let the car cool down so I could start taking the cam covers and turbo pipes off for some tlc. Absolute stinker of a day in Adelaide today (42 degrees) and the car was radiating a bit of heat, as you'd expect. I was curious as to how much pressure was in the radiator pipes so I gave the top one a bit of a squeeze, quite firm!
I came back about 3 hours later to start dismantling to find this...
Is this a result of the squeeze I gave it before (never had that happen before though) or something a bit more sinister?
Any input would be appreciated as always.

Similar Prob a few years back in my commodore. Radiator Specialist was saying something about a air leak (very small) and resulting in backpressure build up in the hose . Only happened once on a really hot day ,so all hoses were changed

Hmmm, already done half of the radiator hoses about a year ago. I couldn't be arsed trying to get my hand down between the block and the firewall so I took it to a place to get it done. They said that the rest of the radiator hoses were in excellent knick and not to worry about them.
They didn't mention anything about the main radiator hoses though, maybe I should look at them?
I got me a nice stainless top hose somewhere, I just need to get the spiders out of the inside of it now! And get some silicone to suit. I'm assuming that its Mr T for the bottom hose? Or does someone know where I can get a silicon hose kit for a JZZ30 from?

I'm guessing the red paint in the radiator cap is blocking the relief valve which lets pressure back into the cooling system when the coolant cools and shrinks.
(Expands when hot, Shrinks when cool)

Tested that, spring still works good, can be pushed in and out with fingers. It has always been there, I find it wierd that it would only just start to be an issue after 3 years? Then again, not much suprises me with these cars anymore!

Didn't register over half on the temp gauge, although I did drain the radiator and it did seem a little light on. Now I just need to find out where it is leaking from

Seriously, what have I done to deserve this?!?
Pulled more things off the engine today only to find that things that should've been bolted down are just sitting there! Also, I have figured out the conversation in the mind (Homer Simpson style) that the previous owner must have had...
Person - Hmmm, I found an oil leak, maybe I should get some new seals? Brain - Nah, just run some silicone around the join lines of the metal and hope for the best!
Almost tempted just to get a new engine and be done with it.
I get the same problem on my camry, that top hose gets vaccumed. My camry eats away at water as well though. No idea, mechanic mentioned maybe a partially blocked radiator. Good luck.

As it so turned out, I was leaking from the top tank. I have only had that replaced not even 3 years ago so that suprised me a bit. I had a bit of a pressure build up due to a dodgy thermostat.
