Hey guys all day today I have been installing my double din dvd head unit and have been watching and testing etc without starting the car.
It seems now when I go to start the car it does not turn over but makes this nasty electrical whine noise.
Is it just a flat battery ?
My alarm works perfectly fine, though it does have a small dry sealed backup battery in case someone disconnects the car one.
The mechanic told me a few months ago my battery was about to go, could this just be it ?
Could have anything stuffed up from me installing the head unit ? I cut the factory harness and have soldered a lot of wires together but I don't see how that affects the car in any way.
I can see my dash and stuff no error messages?
Also my multimeter reads approx 11 volts on the cars battery

Hi Altaaf.
When you are about to start the car and the dash lights go dim, then its a sign of low battery. One of my car has 2 amps. and if i don't start the car for 30minutes, I will flat my battery.
You are talking about all day installing DVD unit so most probably its your battery Bro.
The alarm would work fine because it doesn't use that much of the battery power, try switching on your headlights and then tooting the horn for 5seconds, if the lights go dim and horn doesn't sound usual then its your battery again.

12 volt battery only showing 11 volts? Maybe a plate has dried up. I would try a new battery. If your mechanic reckons its on its way out. Prevention is better than a cure mate

Thanks guys, I had RACQ come and have a look, he reckons I drained it flat, after a jump start and strap around the block its back at charge and reckons its still got a few months left in it.
