As you Melbourne guys know, its a wopping stinker today...40'C
So any way, my car struggles to idle well in the cold during cold start, which seems fair enough as it is a common problem.
BUT
on days like today where it is stinking hot (30+)
My car idles extremely erraticaly. It still drives well, however it sounds like i'm running the lumpiest cams in the world on idle.
It seriously only on idle...as soon as I touch the throttle it is fine.
also whilst engine braking with 0% throttle, it does sound a little odd too (kinda crackles and pops more than usual).

Does any one have any suggestions?
I have tried resetting my ECU, and even checked for vacuum leaks.
I have also tried adjusting the throttle stopper screw down, just incase that was some how confusing the ECU, however that made no difference.

HELP!

the extreme temperature (inlet temp) does effect the idle, ecu pulls significant timing with extreme temp. This happens to mine too.

argh...
I should also mention that I am running failry cold plugs, and small gaps.
I suppose haveing timing retarded would amplify any existing ignition problems.
cheers Danny.

Bugger that for a game of soldiers! It was 27 here the other day with 90% humidity, and that was well hot enough for me!

Maybe check the fuel lines to make sure you aren't getting any vaporisation? Don't think its really much of a problem with fuel injection, but hot engine + hot weather in a carburated car can lead to vapour lock in the carb, which will cause rough idle, or stall. As I said, never heard of a modern fuel injected engine doing this though, so perhaps I'm wasting your time. Maybe check your fuel filter too?

well I can pretty much can't hear myself think over the fuel pump during hot weather (bosch 040 intank), so perhaps there is something about the heat causing fueling issues...i'll get the mechs to check it out when they install my EMU and a few other things
