Thanks guys. I was getting prices from toyodiy.com. Can I just order a top tank from toyota? My bottom tank seems fine but I would hate to go to the trouble of replacing the top tank the have the bottom tank blow.
Scott, I take it the replacement radiator you could have bought would have been aftermarket. If so, what brand and how has it performed for you?
If I can get a oem radiator for $700 or less I think that's the route I'll take.

Just an update. Toyota castle hill want $1300 for a new radiator. A new top tank is not an option as my radiator is pretty stuffed as you'd imagine after 19 years of use plus the previous owner was running green coolant. Has anyone actually installed an eBay "cheapie" or are you just writing them off because of the price?
The other thing I don't understand is why you'd need a 57mm core when the standard on is only roughly 30mm or am I not understanding how these measurements are made?

Larger core just for better cooling capacity when engine modifications have been done or for people who use their Soarer on the track.

Few people here have used the ebay radiators without problems

Sorry Borris. I just want to clarify, do you mean that few people have used them or that the people who have used them have had problems?

I understand that a larger core will dissipate more heat but I'm only aiming for 300rwkw so I'd imagine anything close to oem will suffice.

Since most aftermarket radiators have larger cores it makes sense to use them, especially since your

1. Doubling the original power output

2. Your front mount intercooler will not only block the amount of air coming in toward the radiator, but add heat aswell.

Thanks a lot guys. Looks like I'm going aftermarket.

Borris, I would think that the intended purpose would also play a part in what type of cooling system is required. I won't be doing any track work besides the odd blast down the strip so I'd say the factory system would be good enough for me.
