I haven't got a pic on me, but there is what looks like an o2 sensor or something attached to my stock cat. I'm putting a new cat in shortly and there is no place for this sensor to fit into the new cat. What is this sensor for? Is it something important? Can I just leave it unattached to the new cat? What have you guys with modified exhausts done to it?? Cheers for your help! Will post pics if necessary.

It's usefull for the ECU and as a warning feature, but it does nothing to the running of the car, or any of that.....
I had mine come up once when I lost a cylinder on my 180sx due to the detailer filling the plugs with water, no spark and the car was blowing raw fuel to the Cat converter, where it was catching and burning, made for some interesting exhaust flames.
Anyway, eventually, the light came on telling me exhaust temps where high, I ignored it like most would, and kept driving it.
Eventually, I roated the living crap out of the cat converter core, and it powedered away into the atmophere leaving me the world's highest flowing cat converter.
