Hey all,
I just got off the blower with a turbo rebuilder here in Sydney, and he told me when rebuilding to steel wheel these turbos, your better off getting the USDM ct12b comp wheels (which are steel wheeled from factory), machine out the turbo and use these, anyone on this forum done that??
Weighing up my options here, sounds like a good idea but the bottom line is will it work??

Standard ct12a compressors are steel, its the exhaust turbine that is ceramic.
Forget any turbo joint that doesnt already know that, talk to GCG and get an exchange kit for $2800. Rebuilt, hi flowed and capable of 270rwkw or more.
If you have the cash, talk to Shom or Manny about the gt28 hybrids with ball bearing CHRA's from GCG. Pricey but easier to achieve any reasonable power goal.

Not to mention the Power it will provide Brian They are good for 270rwkw+ with the right ancilleries. PLus you retain the factory look in the engine bay. Leaving most people puzzled

I can get both turbos steel wheeled and high flowed for $1500 here in Sydney, been recommended by this bloke by so many places as well, so his work must be great.

Yeah but if he was anygood as Cihan said he woulda knew that the CT12as already have a steel compressor wheel.
Ive been through the rebuilding CT12as and if i had my time again i woulda listened to the people who i asked for advise of and went with GCG. Even if it meant spending a few extra hundred $$$.
So far GCG is $200 cheaper anyway going of Cihans quote, and atleast you know guys of this forum with Soarers have been through GCG. Not me personally, but i wish i did at the time.
