Ok, where to start and how to explain.

Basically, this morning I came out, turned the key to ACC, all good. Turned the key to ON, all good, Turned the key to kick the engine over, head the starter thump as it attempts to start, but then everything dies completely.... (the thump is similar to a flat battery sound, but the battery is VERY good.

Anyway, I get out and wiggle with the battery, but no go, it's almost like the terminal is not getting power (but it is, I know this for sure).

After frigging around, I undo the stereo cable going to my amps that are grounded on the CD stacker tray in the boot, and I try kicking it over again with NO LUCK.

After moving some around under the bonnet, I accidently brush the unplugged stereo cable against the negative terminal, and all of a sudden, the lights come on, the indicators blink once, and the dash is back (I had left the key in the ON position).

I try firing it over, but it does the same thing.

I go back, and force the stereo cable back onto the negative terminal of the battery (sparks flying again), and the lights come back on, the dash is back again, this time I dart over and hit the key, and she starts first kick and runs SWEET!!!

My thoughts where the immobiliser is being reset, and thus allowing the car to start again, but otherwise it's blocking all power completely to the ignition, therefore to over-ride this issue, all I would need to do is find the relay that is being activated to cut the ignition, and re-wire it to not cut ignition, but what else could cause this??

All ideas are welcome because I have this weekend only to get it fixed, otherwise I am struggling to get to work and perform my work tasks next week.

BTW, I would love to have this fixed by Sunday so I can go cruising with the NS Soarer ppl.

Thanks in advance for any ideas guys.

Brian.

Sounds a bit like a lousy terminal connection to me. You disturbed it a bit and also the stereo cable is carrying probably more current than it should.

Also check the main earth where it connects to the chassis.

It's not a loose terminal, I checked the terminals, it was litteraly only when I shorted the battery that everything came back on.

I was thinking the immobiliser was cutting the main 12v constant to the ignition, but would this kill the door lights, door lights, hazard lights etc (as non of these work when the car shuts down either).

I will check the main ground, where is this located (I might just follow some of the grounding wires).

It only started this morning.

Check the main earths, where they bolt to the engine and chassis.

Checked the wiring and grounds, they are solid, clean and fine.

Removed the stereo and as per miracle it started to work without any signs of the issue.

I re-wired the stereo to by-pass the loom that was there when I originally installed the unit last week (it was a loom from a previous aftermarket install),
but when I re-connected the unit, the issue was back.

I completely removed the stereo and A/C from the centre console, but this again made no difference, proving the stereo isn't the cause of the problem,so I am back to square 1, but 1 day down and only 1 day left to attemp to rectify the issue.

Any ideas or help would be mega appreciated at this point in time, otherwise my car goes byebyes to the auto electrician to clean up the mess of someone else :-(

Try jumpering your fuel pump relay to high.

Car has now gone to the Auto electrician....

Before leaving, it had gotten to the point where anything that seemed to sap power would cause it to shut right off, including hazard lights, electronic seat, door lights, etc.

probably something simple, but wont know until Wednesday, will let you guys know.

Hopefully it wont cost the world to get rectified.

Just spoke to the auto-electrician about the baby, and he has removed my immobiliser (said he would have expected a better install from a monkey), but hasb't been able to start the car due to the battery being flat, and the negative terminal on the battery being stuffed.

He has replaced the negative terminal, and is in the process of re-charging the battery, but if the battery doesn't hold charge, it will need replacing (I told him to just find a 2nd hand battery that he can garauntee to last a week, and I will head to my FHRX and get a yellow top Optima battery installed (the of batteries).

Hopefully it was just the stuffed negative terminal causing my issues (it does explain a few things, poorly contacting negative terminal, means when you start to load the terminal, it fails completely).

Address is Numbre 10, GotnewAlarm Rd, in Crimless City.

The car's original alarm was installed so bad, the guy said all they did was intersect wires, twist the new wires, and tape, no solder, not even shrink-wrapped, he was astonished the car lasted this long without evidential problems, and for it to turn out to be a battery only issue, he was amazed.

This weekend, a new alarm system is going into the car, will full paging remote, glass break sensors, microwave sensors (for the sunroof being open), auto-closers for the windows, and all the other garbage, and this system will be full black wires, unlike the last which was coloured theft-friendly wiring.

Also, instead of being fitted straight up to the ignition loom like the last system, this one will be following the loom to another location, and will cut 3 points of the system, not just the ignition like the last one.

Car has to last only 2 days before the system gets installed.

That's what happens when you get "factory" alarms installed. Mine was the same, installed by Lexus in Chatswood (by their preferred installer).

I was astonished when I heard, but amazed that it wasn't the culprit of the issue (I was told that the installation was a fire hazard, quite amazing considering it's a 'warranted' job).

Anyway, here is hoping the car comes back soon with no other issues.
