I don't know if this is normal or not. Only noticed it when my car was getting tuned.
When on boost, and then letting go off the throttle, and the BOV venting the boost, the flap that covers the filter in the airbox pops out! To me it means that perhaps the BOV is not venting enough air, which means the air goes back, surging through the turbines and out the box etc. Some people have told me that a BOV will never vent 100% of the excess boost, and will only vent the high pressure air, and the low pressure will go back through the turbos and out the box anyway. Is that right? Or is it something serious that may stuff up my new turbos? Is a BOV only meant to vent the high pressure or all of it. Is any amount of air normal to go back out through the turbos and the intake? For info sakes, I got an aftermarket BOV next to my plenum, and I run 12 psi boost at the moment. Cheers!!
