Hey guys, I just serviced my car, but once i started pulling things apart, i decided to take off the front turbo to check if it had been modified (i.e.: steel exhaust wheel) as it hit positive boost at around 2800rpm. I didn’t manage to finish getting the front turbo off, i undid everything except for the underneath bolt on the manifold, between the engine and the turbo. I also did not touch the oil line bolts.
Realising that i might struggle to get all the bolts back on correctly with the limited tools i had, I abandoned the turbo removal, reassembled everything and continued with the service. Including:
- Basics (sparks, Oil filter, oil change etc) - Oil flush using brand new oil and Nulon oil flush. - Penrite 10w-50 in after flush
I am sure that everything was put back together correctly. I took my time and triple checked oil & water lines were secure. When i started to car up it seemed fine. I left it to idle for about 10 minutes (while the new cheap oil and oil flush were doing their thing) and then just started to rev slowly to about 3000rpm for a couple of minutes so it would be easier to check for leaks.
Then a small amount of white smoke started coming out from under the heat shield near the front turbo. Obviously it was something i did... but what? could it be the oil flush? It still smokes after putting in the new oil.

Thanks Shaun i think you may be right. I haven't driven it yet but i have had it idling for the last 15mins and it seams ok now. My hands were pretty oily as i was doing a few things at once. I might take it for a short drive and check again... hopefully it burns off.

The cheaper oil was only used for the flush... then i put in the Penrite. Its what i always use and have never had any dramas. Car is fine now... excess oil had burnt off and its running like a dream, especially after the throttle body clean.

if you put your hand on it, it will smoke. You will find even after a de-grease it will probably still do it. just take it for a drive and put up with the smoke. It will stop after a few mins and be back to normal
