friends are telling me at it needs a tune. coz last week i ran my mates v8 soarer and killed him by 5 or 6 car lengths now after getting exhaust the car feels its got more power but now only taking him by 3 car lengths. mods to my car a pod filter and full exhaust . mates v8 soarer,s mods are just a pod.

A free flowing exhaust will allow you to hear the ignition Retard on gearchanges that you couldnt hear before. This is normal. It is a failsaif measure by toyota to ensure the gearbox isnt being punished by shifting at full throttle.
Your pod filter is probably making your car slower. Unless you have it shielded and getting cold air, it will flow worse than the Standard airbox with the BFI modification.

A tune is always a good thing, but depending on how much power your after i would do a couple more mods before heading to the dyno. What i mean by that is, if you tune your car, then do another mod (ie: boost controller), the tune becomes obsolete.
Remember you need something to tune as well. You will need at least a piggy back fuel computer (like and apexi safc) to adjust the air to fuel ratio.
With just an exhaust and a pod filter, I would be improving the intake like Daniel said, then buying myself an electronic boost controller before heading to the dyno.
Cheap route: manual boost controller and old apexi safc (around $200 for the lot)
Get it tuned to 12psi, 14psi if you get a FMIC, and you will get quite good gains. Probably somewhere around 180rwkw on 12psi and 200rwkw on 14psi (with FMIC).
Depends on what your after.

A boost controller will not alter AFR at all, even with higher boost.
That's the point of having a MAP sensor.
Flow mods however will alter the AFR; the amount of oxygen at a given boost pressure increases. An example of a flow mod that requires a re-tune would be a quality FMIC.
Aslan, if you're serious about power, look into an emanage ultimate or at the least an emanage blue solution. It will save you money in the long run, this has been proven over and over.

well i did have a boost controller installed ,manual controller, and it was set at the lowest level every time i go to put my foot down it will boost spike . o and after getting the exhaust done the boost has gone up 2psi but car may be a bit slower
