Just would like to get opinion on TRD mechanical lsd`s can anyone give feedback on its performance like is it noisy how does it hook up etc?

My wheel bearings have been noisy for a wile so I pulled the diff out yesterday I am looking at offloading the torsen type 1 and getting a brand new trd diff.

I am also looking for places to purchase from any good deals out there?

Any reason you want to get rid of the the Torsen?

What advantage would a TRD Mechanical LSD have over a Torsen Mechanical LSD?

Wouldnt they function the same?

Unless you want to get a 1.5 way Mechanical LSD?

my torsen has one of the worm gears with a chipped tooth.it has been like that since i got it driven with it like that with no adverse effect.however the diff joint that inspected it i suspect washed the diff and killed the bearings hence the noise.

i am after a type 2 torsen finding that seems difficult so next best thing would be the trd diff.added bonus it will be new.

the diff i have currently can be repaired if someone who has busted a torsen and has a surviving worm gear can donate then the dif joint will replace the gear.

the centre will be for sale soon as is,anyone wanting a working torsen at the time i pulled it out pm me.

hi. drove my car yesterday with the newly installed TRD 2 way LSD. Apparently can't get a TRD 1.5 way for these cars .was quiet, no clunking around tight corners. seems fine to drive.Using REDLINE shock proof oil. Note that the diff centre arrived with a few plates (deliberately)stacked in the wrong order, to provide less lock up for joe average street driver. My diff shop dude stacked them correctly and measured breakaway at 65 pound. Contrast this with about 35 pound for a standard hilux diff, 80 pound for my shimmed up project car(hilux diff) or 100-120 pound for drift guys. This is very tight and almost locked

have a 1.5 way,TRD mechanical since mincing the std diff, been faultless for over a year. hooks up very well, no noise, occasional skipping inside wheel im car park only difference.

do you think it is true that they stopped making the 1.5 way,or did i get wrong info from my local TRD dealer.?I would have preferred the 1.5 way, but now the 2 way is in, i'm not too worried. it seems fine.

Is it true that a Trd diff is a straight drop in to a standard non torsen type diff?

Shafts, casing and housings are the same from torsen to non torsen, so I dont see why the TRD shouldnt fit.
